Summer Lovin’

HEY friends! Thanks for your comments on my last post! It feels so good to be able to relax after weeks of stress, and to be able to blog properly again! I have so much to catch up on with you guys…seriously my Google Reader is overflowing right now!

Saturday involved summer shopping! I am leaving for Crete in FIVE DAYS(!!) so I just had to go out and buy all the essentials….and by essentials I mean giant floppy hats and summer dresses ;)

After shopping, I headed over to a friend’s house for a barbeque. I was excited because this was my FIRST ever barbeque! And my friends were excited because I was there. Obviously.

See? So excited to see me ;)

Barbeques are totally my new favourite thing. We all brought some stuff, and I was in charge of bringing the meat-free options for us vegans/vegetarians. I brought veggie sausages, veggie burgers, and vegetable kebabs, and had about a thousand of each.

Also, I discovered that pita chips are my latest newest foodie obsession. I brought them to share but ended up knocking everyone else’s hands out of the way any time someone tried to take some. Mine.

This morning began with a short shakeout run (I’m racing tomorrow), which was hot and sweaty, and then I headed off to church. Just so you know, dry shampoo is a lifesaver after a morning run! :P

It was a perfect lazy Sunday afternoon for sure, spent walking the dog in the sunshine and lying in the grass reading one of my favourite books…

I can’t WAIT for the film to come out at the end of this year!! And the fact that Leonardo DiCaprio is Gatsby just makes me the happiest girl on earth :)

What has been the highlight of your weekend? Spending time with the people I love whilst eating delicious barbequed food:)

Your fave barbeque food? The veggie kebabs were SO goood!

What is your favourite book? I have so many! My favourites are probably To Kill a Mockingbird, Les Miserables, and The Great Gatsby!

Have a great week!! <3

  1. When it comes to reading I have way too many “favourites” (my family’s nickname for me was Matilda!) but 1984 by George Orwell is definitely high on the list.

Your BBQ spread looks delicious! Grilled corn on the cob is always a winner in my eyes. I didn’t realise the Linda Mccartney sausages were vegan friendly, I’ll have to get some again! Also, this is super random, but a vegan friend told me yesterday that Domino’s pizza bases contain milk and I thought of you as I’m sure I’ve seen you post a picture of their pizzas before.

  2. Only one barbecue in your life? Tragic! You should come to Texas! The best part of my weekend was… um… sleeping in (it so counts). OMG every time I finish a book it becomes my new favorite (I’ll just quit reading it halfway through if it’s bad) and I just finished Mindy Kaling’s memoir, so that one. :) Good luck on your race tomorrow!

  11. BBQs are the perfect way to spend summer evenings – good food with good friends :) ! Congrats on being done with exams, that is probably one of the best feelings ever! I only read about the Great Gatsby movie yesterday and I am thrilled. I had to read the book for school and I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed schoolwork as much as I enjoyed that :) !

    • I’m so JEALOUS that you got to go to Vegfest!! I really wanted to go but it’s just too far away from me! did you try Ms Cupcake’s stuff?! she had a stall there and her baked goods are pretty much my favourite thing ON EARTH :)

and I LOVE dostoevsky’s works!! you clearly have good taste ;)

      • Yeah it was pretty lucky that I got to go this year, as I was visiting my family in Cardiff at the time it was on, so it was pretty easy to get to. No I didn’t get to try any of Ms Cupcake, I’m pretty sure the stall either wasn’t set up when I walked round, so I must have missed it!
