Stress Out

These past few days have possibly been the most stressful of my life so far. Money worries and exam stress (they start in just 11 days!) has been taking over this past week! In-between endless studying, I have been working every free hour I have, and much as I love my “job”, I need to stop taking every one I can get and take a bit of a step back!

don’t worry, I’m not pimping out my quartet, I’ve fuzzed out our details! :P and the grammar error on there is killing me.

BUT in less than a month’s time all my stress will be over and I will be in CRETE with my friends! We are going there for a week and I am more excited for a week of fun with my favourite people than I can say :)

this isn’t Crete FYI (I think this was in Spain…?) but I’m guessing it looks something like this! :P

And then a month after that I am off on a music tour to France (it was previously Russia, but there was a problem flying back with the Olympics on here), which includes a trip on the way home to Disneyland Paris (aka, my home), and then I am spending most of August in the mountains in the Lake District! Running and trekking all day every day will be bliss, and hopefully give me a great base for the cross country season! Needless to say, I am SO excited for this summer! :)

Running obviously makes me super happy and unstressed, even though I’ve actually had to miss a few runs for the first time in ages! I’ve done a couple of difficult workouts this week, including a 12 lap measured fartlek on Monday, and then the Kosmin Test and some 400s on Tuesday. The Kosmin Test predicts your 800m time, and this is how it’s done (from here):

I did it more for a measure of fitness and speed than anything else, as I’m not an 800m runner! My coach is having me do this a few times a year just to see how I’m improving, and I can’t wait to find out what my predicted time is when I see my coach next week! I’m not very fast compared to most of the people in my team, but I felt pretty good that day, so I hope the result is good!

My comfort food of choice right now are Fig  Rolls (or fig newtons), which are my latest addiction. You don’t want to know how many of these I am consuming daily at the moment…it’s not pretty ;)

30% fruit=healthy, right?

I LOVED this Bible verse that Lindsay posted yesterday, and I thought I’d borrow it from her post and share it with you guys too:

amen to that!

So here’s to a more stress-free and worry-free weekend filled with running endorphins!

Tell me: what’s your #1 stress reliever? A run, followed by couch time with hot chocolate and a good book or The Big Bang Theory :)

Have a great week friends!! <3

  6. Oh my goodness you sound like you are so busy! When that happens to me I try to just focus on the “now” to avoid worrying about later. I’m pretty stressed without running and worrying about getting into shape for the fall, but I’m trying to focus on the rest and reminding myself that it’s good to let my body recover! So jealous that you’re heading to Crete. You better share pics when that comes around, because I bet it’s beautiful!!

  10. Amen to your stress relief methods!! The Kosmin test is actually ridiculously accurate (for me anyway!)..what track races are you focusing on (if you don’t mind me asking?)…Anyway, breathe..30 days will fly by and you will be in sunnt paradise!!:)

    • is it really accurate?! ooh I can’t wait to find out how I did!! I meant to ask my coach today but I forgot! :P

I am focusing on the 3000m/3200m which is the longest track race we regularly race here, and I’ll possibly do a 1500m to just to see where I am with speed :)

      • It was for me anyway! Maybe coz I believed that the predicted time was possible it made it easier for me to achieve? If that makes any sense! The 3000m is an awesome race..I coach girls (a bit younger than you) over that distance. Can’t wait to hear more about your season!!

  12. Oh, you’re going to LOVE the Lake District :D The running routes there are breathtaking – I don’t know whereabouts you’re going but Brathay/Windermere was my first marathon and it’s still my favourite one, so if you get the chance to run anywhere near there I know you’re going to have a fab time. I really hope the weather improves for you!

Sorry to hear it’s been such a stressful time recently – I do agree with the running and hot chocolate part of your stress relief methods though :)

  15. I hope your money worries go away. Good luck on your exams! Haha I’m no 800m runner, though I used to think I was. To get rid of stress I like to either take a hot bath or let loose and dance at a party. :)

  16. I’m a long time reader but this is my fist time commenting on your web. You’re so lucky to go to Lak District. I come from Czech republic (do you know where it is? :D sorry for such a question but many foreign people still think we are Czechoslovakia), and last year I went to Lake District to international camp. It was AWESOME. The nature was stunning and the people…I wish I was born English. You guys are just so nice people! We stayed at Glaramara outdoor centre and it was just perfect! Hope you have fun there! :)

    • Hey Suzan!! You’re from the Czech Republic?! I love it there!! I went to Prague on a music tour a couple of years ago…so so beautiful! :)

I’m so happy to hear that you had such a great experience of England and the Lake District!! It is SO beautiful there, and an outdoor centre sounds like so much fun!!

      Have a great day!! <3

  17. Good luck for your exams! Just think when they’re all done you can completely enjoy your holidays!

  20. Good luck with all of the exams! I have finals looming and I’m so desperately trying to pretend they’re not happening! ;-) You’ll do great but, yeah, the stress is grim! I like to just leave time to watch half and hour of something comical at the end of the day too! (One Foot In the Grave last week, In the Thick of It next week I think! Youtube is a God send at times like that! ;-)) Then some reading before bed.

    Anyway, good luck again!

  23. Awww, I’m sorry about the stress. I find that a good yoga sesh or good book help me a lot. Sadly, I’m usually stressed when I’m short on time, so I usually don’t have time for either of them! ha

Just think of your awesome trips; I’m sure that will help!
