Since I have SO much to catch you up on, I thought I’d just highlight some of my favourite things from the last few days…

I’ve been loving running on beautiful trails! At the weekend I try to take advantage of the free time I have during the day to hit up new running spots.

Where I live, there isn’t much in the way of trails, but I discovered a GREAT one quite close to me on Saturday! I’m in love! I love the challenge of trail running too, and it is so much more beautiful than my usual miles of busy roads! So I had a great run there:

My coach has just sent me my plans for the next few weeks, and I am excited!! I going to be getting up to where my mileage should be in the next couple of weeks, and building back my long runs!

I’m loving the fact that for the last couple of days I have been able to wear a vest and shorts on runs! At the beginning of this week I was running in a hoodie and running tights!

Such love for my green Tempo shorts <3

I’m loving that I clearly have a natural talent for dancing.  On Friday nights I help out at my church’s youth group, and I was forced by some hyper kids into a Just Dance Wii challenge. Having never played it before, I thought I’d be awful, but clearly, I am a talent:

Hell yeahhh!! Won to the track Pump It by The Black Eyed Peas. I think my victory dance should have won bonus points. P.S. They gave my character the name crazy, not me. P.P.S. I’m thinking I should get someone to video my skills in our rematch next week and then make that my first vlog;) P.P.P.S. I am being very sarcastic and really I am an embarrassingly bad dancer!

I’m loving quiz nights! On Saturday night I headed out to a church quiz night with my family…call me a geek but I LOVE these! Made even better by all the food…I demolished an entire tub of grapes and felt slightly tipsy afterwards…

My team JUST came second! We were winning right up until the final round (full score in the round on naming Periodic Table elements…chemistry nerd right here!) and then the final round on Blue Peter presenters(!) killed us haha!

I’m loving peanut butter granola…with CLUSTERS! Granola has to have clusters IMO, otherwise it’s just baked muesli.

So freakin’ good. I demolished the whole batch in less than two days. Recipe to come!

I’m loving Nando’s. It’s a Portuguese chain restaurant, and I think I’ve eaten there three times in the past month. Spicy food is my favourite, so their stuff is PERFECT for me!

Sorry for the dodgy photos! I started with a sharer of warm pitta bread and hummus and then had a veggie burger with sides of ratatouille and luso beans. So good!!

And my tech problems are (*touchwood*) all sorted out now, so I am back to regularly scheduled blogging! :)

Good Reads:

Tell me one thing YOU’RE loving right now! I’ve also been loving watching the World Indoor Athletics Championships on TV! I get so excited and nervous for all the athletes, and it’s so inspirational to watch! Proud of Team GB for coming second in the medals tables!

Do you have a favourite item of running clothing? Mine is my peaked running cap that has saved me on countless rainy runs, but my green tempo shorts are a close second!

On a scale of one (no spice) to ten (SUPER hot), what can you handle in terms of spiciness? I’m definitely not a ten…but maybe an eight or nine even? I love spicy food:)

P.S. Thanks friends for the feedback on my new About page!!

Hope you all have a great week! <3

  1. Huge fan of spicy food here, but I don’t think the Nandos we have has ANY of those menu choices… it’s all burgers and wraps here, typical fast food stuff.
My fave running clothing is fluro orange shorts with a white nike singlet… or as you call it… ‘vest’ ;P
    That hilly run looks goooorgeous!!

  2. Those trails look beautiful! And good job on those last four miles. The weather here’s been all over the place, from hot and sunny to freezing and rainy. I’m with you on the granola thing, clusters or bust! Maybe I should just eat granola bars, cause I guess those are just huge granola clusters. Thanks for the running article links, I’m gonna check them out right now. :)

  3. Gorgeous trails!!! I’m such a baby when it comes to spicy foods. The most mild is usually too spicy for me haha

  4. believe it or not, I’ve never had portuguese food! I adore spanish food (not mexican though – must be from spain!) And I’m guessing portuguese is somewhat similar – I’ll need to find a restaurant here! And aaah <3 <3 <3 trail running, its my favorite! At my college there were soooo many good trails, you could run a different one every day of the week. some were pretty treacherous too! Loove the Nike shorts hah – I have this one pair of Brooks shorts that I'm obsessed with, I think they've been discontinued though, so I tend to wear them multiple runs in a row…that's probably the thing my running partners wouldn't tell me hahahaha.

The trails you ran on look gorgeous!! And that peanut butter granola looks amazing. I can demolish an entire bag of granola in a day so usually I don’t keep much in the house, haha.

Something I’m loving right now is the weather in CA! It’s been beautiful the past few days :)

  6. Those trails look beautiful! I would love to have somewhere like that to run! But even if I did I probably wouldn’t be able to because it would definitely not be safe to go alone. You’re so lucky to live in area where you can go for runs like that!

  7. Gorgeous trail running photos.
Given your latent dance talent, are you going to leave running to become a dancing superstar? :)

  8. Your trails are gorgeous! I love a little bit of spice, but I really can’t handle much heat.

  9. So jealous of those trails! Haha wii just dance is the ONLY time I am also considered a good dancer! It eliminates my problem of not having ANY moves. Peanut butter granola?! Yes please.

I’m loving the great outdoors right now because it’s been so beautiful and sunny! Like you I literally had a long sleeve zip up and leggings on one day and shorts and a tshirt on 2 days later! Running has been great outside but also biking for a change.

Favorite running item of clothing…don’t make me choose…either my leggings (they never get washed) or my purple nike hat, which keeps the sun off my whiter-than-your-blog’s-background face.

I can maybe handle a 3…I genuinely like spicy food, I just need lots of other food with it to cool off periodically haha.

  10. I really want to try ratatouille now because we just watched the Spanish version in Spanish class and now it’s on one of your posts. This is a sign!!

  12. Yes this weather is fab isn’t it? I am loving it too.
I went to Nando’s and had those beans as a side dish too- they were lovely, but I am a wimp with their spices and can only just stand the lemon herb spices! :)

  13. Woah, those trails you run on look so beautiful!
And yay for your dancing skills, haha! ;)
I also love spicy food A LOT. Sriracha hot sauce is my latest obsession… :D I think on such a scale,I’d be an eight. Or a nine.
    Have an awesome week,however,Emma! <3
Kat @ a dash of fairydust recently posted..Because you’re worth it.

    • I don’t know what Sriracha hot sauce is but I WANT it!! I love adding hot sauce to things! My momma is the worst though, and adds it to literally EVERYTHING she eats…even stuff like cereal haha!

Hope you’re having a great day Kat!! <3

  14. I’m loving watching the athletics too, and the sunny weather.

My baseball cap(s) are my favourite piece of running gear too – as you say they make all the difference when it’s raining. I’m not so fond of how frequenly I lose them when it’s windy though – when they get blown onto a dual carriageway, it’s reasonably difficult to retrieve them.

I cannot handle spice at all, so I would give myself a 1 :P I’d rather just eat the whole tray of pita/hummus by myself.

  16. LOVE YOUR LOVES! especially the trail, beautiful!
i’ve been loving getting back into the swing of things with running, and testing my ankle on the much-loved trails :)
i’ve also been loving really strong-black coffee these past few weeks and pumpkin bread…I’m stuck in winter even though the weather is changing?!
I hope your week is off to a great start!

  17. I love nandos but I’m a wimp when it comes to spicy food!!! mine is usually a mango and lime marinade and thats still to hot lol. I do like those beans and also the bottomless frozen yogurt!!! My fav running gear is tempo shorts but in baby pink

  18. Trail runs are my favorite! I’m doing a “Dirt Days” run on Saturday. It’s a 5k, St. Patricks day muddy trail run!

  19. That truly is a gorgeous trail run, the photos are lovely :-) I’m glad you’re enjoying the weather and that it’s great for your running!

I’m with you on clusters in granola, delish. And your Nando’s looks fantastic, I’ve never tried their ratatouille but always been tempted, is it good?

I love spicy food! I reckon I’m pretty high on the spice scale, I add dried chilies and spices to nearly everything I make :-)

  21. This is so funny… I’ve been planning a post about my current loves all week! One thing I’m completely in love with recently? PB&J milkshakes! I owe my very being to the first person who decided to put peanut butter and jelly together.

I also just got my first pair of temp shorts, and I’m in love with them! It was so warm out the other day that I got to wear them, and it felt great. Next time they go on sale, I’m buying out the whole store!
