WIAW {+ exciting news!}

 

You know things are crazy when I post twice in a day. Or it’s just my usual mess-up, which it was in this case! I pressed ‘publish’ and then left it, and when I went to reply to comments this afternoon, I was a bit surprised to find there was nothing to reply to haha! So in case you missed it, I posted my ambitious running dreams.

 

Anyway, usual shenanigans aside, it’s time for the usual WIAW with Jenn!


What I Ate

My new favourite oatmeal. I will be having this every day until I find a new obsession.

Chocolate-PB-Pretzel oatmeal! Idea from the genius that is Nicole. This combo is AMAZING! Open-mouthed smile

 

My other latest foodie obsession is Nature’s Path Maple Sunrise cereal, which I read rave reviews about on a number of other blogs (Nicky, Jess, Laura, I’m looking at you!), and so I caved and bought it:

I am joining the rave reviews. I love it. It is very sweet (hey, I’m not complaining Winking smile ) and totally addictive!

I am loving it with soy yoghurt as a post-run snack Smile

 

I am probably most obsessed though with Katie’s delicious chocolate pumpkin pizookie. And I need your honest opinion here…do you think I put quite enough chocolate chips in?

The correct answer is no, because obviously you can never have too many chocolate chips Winking smile

 

And that leads on to my long-term obsession of baked goods as oatmeal toppings:

What I Worked

I worked hard at keeping warm. I don’t do cold. I was wearing my running clothes, a layer of sweaters/leggings, and then my dressing gown on top to try and stay warm!

It took a lot of willpower and remembering my dreams to get me to shed the dressing gown and head out to train in the dark and cold. I also will not be wearing a short sleeved shirt next time because I think I developed frostbite.

 

Today’s workout was ‘continuous’, which is one of my new faves! It was one of my least favourites it the last time we did it, but I prefer it to ‘repeats’ because running non-stop is always more fun IMO Smile

So the very exciting news that I’ve been dying to share? There’s TWO pieces!

 

1. In qualifying for and running a national race in April (the LMM), I will receive a London 2012 Olympics ticket to see athletics!! I wanted to see it SO badly, but my family missed out on the tickets! I am SO unbelievably excited about this! Open-mouthed smile

 

2. I have been offered the future position of Assistant Coach at my club for a younger age group. I will be working towards a coaching qualification soon, and then I will be able to take up the position and get paid to do something I love! I forgot to add coaching to my running dreams yesterday, but it’s definitely something I’ve wanted to do for a while now! My coach is making a HUGE difference to me, both physically with my running and mentally, and I hope to inspire and encourage others just as he does me.

 

I think I will be the best at cheering the kids on. If this sight doesn’t make you run faster, I don’t know what will:

What meals/foods/combos are you currently obsessed with? I forgot to add cherry dark chocolate to the list. Love!

Have you got Olympic tickets, or are you planning on watching it on the TV? Most of it, I will be glued to my TV screen! The marathon I will be watching live though Smile

  4. Oh no! Haha I usually have the opposite problem. It’ll be in the 40s and I KNOW I should go without a jacket if it’s above thirty… but I am a wimp and wear the jacket anyway. And then I am sweating hot by the time I get back!

    Alright so your eats look too perfect for words. And NO there is not enough chocolate chips in that pumpkin pizookie! The whole point of a pizookie is to have melty goo!
    My last workout was just an active rest day so some walking and light chest lifting.

I want to coach so bad, and I know you’re going to be such a motivating, encouraging coach! So after that you can be my coach, okay? Okay. Tickets to the olympics is so cool too!   11. YAYYYY I’m so happy you liked the combo :) Congrats on qualifying for the race!! I would love to go to the Olympics, that would be such a fantastic experience.

    I’ve currently been obsessed with pouring soup on top of salad and using that as salad dressing. It sounds weird but it is amazing!

    My last workout was 40 minutes on the elliptical (low-intensity because of my crazy run yesterday)

    I will for SURE be watching the Olympics on TV and I hope I see you in the crowd!

  12. Congratulations Emma!! Tickets to the Olympics you will have so much fun! The only Olympics I was able to attend was the Sydney 2000 Games.

    Pretzels in oatmeal?! I think I just died and went to heaven thinking about that combination. I can’t wait to try it!
    The last workout I did was a lower-body strength workout this morning. Let’s just say, my butt is feeling it!

  16. OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!!! I honestly don’t know which of the news bits is cooler! Olympics! Coaching! aaah! Are you going to watch the track races and the marathon?? OMG and you will make the absolute BEST coach ever! especially if you wear the monkey suit which I know you will hahaha. And I do have to say…PB + chocolate + pretzels = my all-time favorite food combination. your breakfast is like a healthy more delicious version of a Take 5 bar lol!

  25. Congrats on the tickets and the coaching, that’s so exciting! Glad you like the maple cereal, its lush isn’t it. Love all those chocolate chips in that cake too! I did a pretty good workout on Monday that was mean to be taking it easier than usual on my set back week but ended up being pretty tough! It included 100 sit ups and my abs are still sore!

  26. nothing like the combination of salty & sweet :) I love maple sunrise too!! I love nature’s path products. what’s really yummy is their peanut butter granola bars, chocolate & pb granola bars. And their enviro kids line of cereal bars. so good :)

    I’m obsessed with squash+nut butter combos lately. As well as any dried fruit (I’m looking at your dates and figs) with nut butter. or just nut butter in general.

    • Haha trust me I WOULD be going through 1/2 a box at a time, but my budget doesn’t really allow for cereal (oats are so much cheaper!) so I tend to buy it rarely and try to make it last! You are right though, it is SO addictive!!

      And more like I will be watching YOU in the marathon! Your marathon times are amazing :)
