My Weekend Is Not Complete Without…

…a race. Well, for the moment at least, EVERY weekend involves a race!

This photo demonstrates how awful I am at starting races (I’m the one in last!). Literally, the gun goes off, and I realise about a year later, and have to spend the first minute or so catching up. My coach was yelling “what are you doing in last place?! MOVE!” to me when he saw! Haha we’ll be working on that one this week! Smile with tongue out The race itself was fun (results aren’t up yet, so I can’t share them)! My LAST “tempo” race, because I’ve been given the go-ahead to run at faster speeds again now because my injury is healing well! So this Saturday’s race (a major one!) will be all-out, and I can’t WAIT! Open-mouthed smile

…a Costa gingerbread latte. I think I’ve had them every Saturday and Sunday since they’ve been selling them again!

Yes, straight after the race I did hit up the nearest Costa. Still in my shorts and muddy spikes. Coffee takes priority.

…party time! Nothing like cake to refuel after a race with  Winking smile

The highlight for me was a chocolate fountain with fruit. I was challenged to try and down this kebab I made in one:

I not only epically failed, but almost impaled myself on the end of the stick.

…food shopping. Saturday is my weekly shop day, but this week I just needed some essentials. And by that I mean broccoli and chocolate chips…

x4 packets! Smile with tongue out

…early morning Sunday hill training! Only this week my legs were telling me that the hills from Saturday were quite enough for one lifetime weekend, so I gave them a rest instead Smile

I know, I know, my form is shocking, but that was probably the last thing on my mind at that point haha!

…church. I washed my hair beforehand which was a first, and people (including the pastor!) asked me what I’d done with it, which was a little embarrassing! Smile with tongue out

“Yeah I actually just washed it for once…”

…and obviously, it’s not complete without PANCAKES!

Recycled photo, same pancakes! CCK’s Cookie Dough Pancakes (my favourite!) with the obligatory maple syrup drizzle

I’ve barely touched my computer all weekend, so I’ve got a lot to catch up on! I hope you’ve all had a great weekend!

What is your weekend not complete without?

What was the best part of your weekend?

What is your favourite pancake/oatmeal/cereal/etc topping? Nut butter generally, but for pancakes maple syrup is my fave Smile

Have a great week friends! <3

  2. My weekend is not complete without catching up on the office and psych. :) I love nutella on everything!!! Good job on your race, and dont feel bad about starting slow: one of the best girls on my team starts slow!! I sometimes start too fast and my splits then are very badly different. This weekend I went to go see in time (justin timberlake!!!!) and get ice cream.

  3. Congrats on the race! Love the pink shoes. My weekend is not complete without my weekend oatmeal that I make in my room with almond milk instead of using the caf’s water oatmeal. When I am older and not on a meal plan, I declare I will always make my oatmeal with nondairy milk!

  5. Aaah I love the race photos! you look intense in that last one haha and your form’s actually pretty good for race conditions! and yes to refueling with coffee – I’ve read that caffeine speeds muscle repair! I dunno how true it is but it is def a legit excuse for a post-workout latte :-D my weekend is usually not complete without a long run (when I’m healthy) and watching football with my mom, even though our team’s having a pretty crappy season haha!

  6. Yay for your race and being able to run faster! Good luck girl can’t wait to hear about it :D My weekend isn’t complete without some relaxation! I usually get a lot done but I love having the time to relax too :)

  7. Pancakes are a must for the weekend! Growing up, my parents always made pancakes (or waffles) and scrambled eggs after evening church. I was home this weekend so we had them on Saturday since I had to head back to my place Sunday :)

  8. I love the race pictures! You rock, girl. When I was racing in high school I always wound up in last place at the starting line- apparently my reactions are slow. But, it’s usually not too difficult to catch back up.
My weekend is not complete without a trip to the farmers market and without catching up on my TV shows from the week! I need to start making pancakes more often- yours always leave me drooling! :)

  9. Woo nice going on the race! The best part of my weekend was brunch on Sunday- think day-time clubbing, too much booze and basically one of the best days in a while!

  10. People ask me all the time what I have done with my hair and the answer is the same as yours.. errr.. I washed it. hahahah.. I hate washing my hair. It takes forever and for me its like one big ordeal.. hahhaah..

  11. I love to have a run and do some baking at the weekend. The last 2 weekends we went away for races so it was lovely this weekend to be at home.
Glad you are allowed to be back racing properly :)

  12. My weekend is not complete without a race whether it’s watching one or competing in one! For the past 2 weekends I’ve been on the sidelines cheering :)
Yogurt, cinnamon or maple syrup are my toppings of choice.

Congrats on being given the all clear to go all out in your next race!

  13. I think my weekend is not complete with out at least 2 hours sat on the sofa coffee in hand and laptop on knee! This weekend I had fun dressing up as a punk for my friends birthday!

  14. My weekend is not complete without church either. It’s the best way to start off the week for me. My favorite topping on pancakes and waffles is nut butter and fruit :)

  15. I used to be so terrible at starting. I think it was more out of the fact that I didn’t want to be passed. Then I realized I wouldn’t be passed because I should be up front from the get go anyway, so I’ve gotten better at it. I still could use some improvement!
Grocery shopping is like the highlight of my weekend. I can just destress and think about what I want to eat (who doesn’t love doing that?!)

  17. I am such a bad starter in races… I either go out too fast and die or too slow and then have to fight my way forward. I must work on this!
My weekend is not complete without plenty of time to RELAX :D

  18. My standard response is always “I washed it” when people ask me what I’ve done with my hair or say it looks good :)

My weekend is not complete with a nap and at least a little bit of time to relax. I also usually fit runs in too, but during the winter, I actually work like 7-6 every weekend day, blah!

I like pancakes plain best actually, but a small amount of maple syrup (from the trees in my backyard!), peanut butter or yogurt is tasty on occasion.

  19. My weekend is not complete with some sort of lie in, even if it’s with an alarm still! :-)

Maple syrup on pancakes! On oatmeal…jam and some sort of spread – nut butter or Nutella! :-)

Exciting times that you have the go ahead for full on speed racing now! That’s great news!

And, yes, I read Russian (and French). It’s not anywhere near as exciting as people think it is! ;-)

  20. I love your pink spikes!! SO cute!!

  21. Omg a chocolate fountain? I would have been in Heaven <3 I was recently telling Dave that we should invest in one for the house. Seems like a perfectly reasonable addition to me!

And your hair looks so fab! Can't wait till mine's that long.
