Some Things Never Change

HELLO friends!! How’s your week going? Good I hope! Mine is so busy but I’m LOVING it!!

I am a list person. I’m sure you hadn’t figured that out from the fact that half my posts are in list form…but anyway, here is a few NEW things in my life!!

1. Being chocolated out. I thought this could never happen, but I was DEFINITELY chocolated-out this morning after yesterday! For the first time since I can remember, breakfast did NOT involve chocolate!!

DSCF1417

Banana oatbran pudding with bloobs and TJ’s crunchy PB. I forgot how awesome this was!! So creamy and delicious…it’s been too long- never again!!

But don’t worry, the chocolate returned later…like I could go a day without it! Smile with tongue outDSCF1410

Cherry dark chocolate is my current fave chocolate! I could eat that whole bar quite happily! Smile

2. My obsession with cucumber+hummus has reached new heights. I now carry around a tub of Sabra and a baggie of cucumber sticks for random dippage throughout the day.DSCF1419

3. Buying my first pair of spikes! My coach gave me a few names  of good XC spikes, and I ended up narrowing it down, and then picking these Nike ones based on the fact that they have ‘waffle’ in the name:

Nike Zoom XC Waffle! They’re actually men’s but apparently they work well for us women too Smile

I am trying to heal ASAP so that I can compete in the XC regional championships in a few weeks!! I am very sure I’ll be allowed to do this, because it’s on grass and a short race, so it should be all good! My half mary is looking VERY doubtful, but I’m getting more tests done tomorrow to find out more, so fingers crossed!!

4. Justin’s Chocolate Hazelnut Butter withdrawals. Since I finished my jar a few days ago, I have actually DREAMED about it!! That is how obsessed I am! So of course, I got straight down to ordering more…

Expensive, but oh so worth it Smile

5. Missing spin!! I realised the other day that I haven’t taken a spin class in over two months!! I used to take two a week! Since I’ve started running again, I haven’t really had time! But now I have booked myself in for the HARDEST spin class on earth, which is early Friday morning! Preparing myself for a butt-kicking!! Open-mouthed smile

6. Cookie Dough Balls! I FINALLY got round to making Mama Pea’s infamous PB Cookie Dough Balls for a lil’ house party I’m going to tomorrow night!

DSCF1437

From the copious dough tasting I did, I can tell they will be a HIT!!

7. And as a surprise and to amuse y’all, here is my outfit for tomorrow night’s party…

DSCF1432

That is a monkey onesie. I know you’re jealous. You haven’t even seen the tail yet! Winking smile

The best part? Its not even a costume party. I used to do the same as a kid, going in my favourite fairy costume when everyone else was in normal clothes:

Some things never change. I even look the same….awkward.

Have you changed much since you were younger? Nope! Look the same (well, taller!) and act like even more of a dork.

Do you enjoy spinning? I find it depends a LOT on the instructor, but a good one can gives me SUCH a hard workout!

Are you a list person? Yes, I make them for EVERYTHING! Even when buying shoes and stuff, I make pros and cons lists haha!

  1. Lists are great! At any one time I usually have at least 2 or 3 floating around… some on notepad on the computer, some on bits of paper, some on my phone… I almost need a list to list my lists ;)
Oh and I’ve never seen that flavour of green’s choc… CHERRY?! YUM!

  4. Seriously love that monkey suit…can I borrow it for Halloween?! Hah, just kidding.
I LOVE spinning, but I haven’t been in a month either. I’m actually thinking about being a spinning instructor because there’s two courses coming up for it, but the $$$ is holding me back.
I make to-do lists on post-it notes, on my computer, and in my planner. Probably too many of them…

    • HAHA it’s just a regular house party…but I like to shake things up in my own special way ;) And lol I LOVE this: “Emma without chocolate is like life without air”. I need to get a shirt that says that or something! :)

  8. LOL you’re hilariously adorable! I so wish I had the balls to dress up for a non-costume party! I guess when you’re bringing the baked goods though, anything goes :-P

and YAY for spikes!! that’s so exciting that you might be able to race! :-D

Spinning….I’ve never taken a class! But sometimes I jam out on the spin bikes by myself and I love it!

  9. Im actually really sick of chocolate right now too. I tried to have a little piece of Dove dark chocolate earlier, but even that was a little much for me. I guess I need a break!! I love spin classes and I love how excited you look to get your butt kicked :) Going to a non costume party in a costume!!?? Thats it you are officially invited to any party I have in the future. You sound like the best party guest ever!!

  10. Um…you and your monkey onesie kind of made my night:)

I actually look the same too! It’s weird. I’ve only ever taken one spin class and it was pretty fun. I wasn’t wearing the right shoes so it was a little difficult but I plan on taking it again someday!

I love lists. I make them multiple times a day.

  11. I love lists! Mainly to do lists, and if I do something not on my list, I will write it on just so I can cross it off! :)
    Love that monkey outfit!

I miss my running spikes! I hade Nike XC spikes back in high school. Just putting them on made me feel fast!

  19. I like to think that I’ve changed from the wussy, chocolate biscuit-and-cake-eating critter I was when I was young. I quit literally every sport I started and stayed indoors all day playing video games. Though I still have a greedy sweet tooth, I really hope I don’t go back to dying whenever I ‘ran’ the 100m! Irony is that I really wanted to run it, and looked forward to it, hoping every year would be different. But I was just too tubby and out of shape to keep up with everyone, and the embarrassment led me never to ‘train’ or try to up my fitness in betwen times.

I agree that spinning is completely dependent on the instructor, unlike Pump etc. whereby you can get a decent workout even with a crappy instructor. We had a guy on Monday that kept us in the saddle with no choreography and the same resistance (with a dance track that had NO WORDS and drove me insane) under the premise of a ‘time trial’ for 29 minutes. Yes, I counted (actually I used a stopwatch on my Garmin because I’ve had this idiot before teaching spin and I needed the distraction).

Which website did you use for that nut butter? I really want to find some of the natural Justin’s flavours!

OMG your monkey suit just made my day…and then I cracked up when I read that it wasn’t a costume party. Why can’t I live next door to you because then I’d be smiling 24/7 instead of being a miserable git like I am. Seriously, I laugh more in ten minutes of reading your blog than in the other 23 hours and 50 minutes of the day combined.

    • First since I can’t comment on your blog can I just say CONGRATS AGAIN on your GNR!! Seriously, can you teach me how to look good in race photos please? You look amazing in EVERY ONE and you have THE most beautiful smile! :)

Haha I was TOTALLY the same as a kid!! We must have been twins! And woah that sounds like a terrible spin class! You should come to this instructor’s class…he is a ultra-marathoner and ex-army person and is SO hardcore!!

Justin’s is from iHerb of course, because I love that site so much!! WAY too much of my money is spent on there! :P

Please come and live next to me then?! I will buy you one too so we can match :)

P.S. You are not a ‘miserable git’. You have the best most geniune beautiful smile I have ever seen!! <3

  20. I love making lists! There is such a great feeling that comes from being able to cross something off a to do list! Just a Quick Q: What is your school schedule? I see you’re able to workout in the mornings so I was just wondering what time school starts and what a typical day is for you?
    Kaila @healthyhelperblog! recently posted..Super B(usy)

    • My school day starts at 8.30am, so I can get in a workout beforehand if I’m up early enough! It finishes at just before 4pm, so sometimes I workout afterwards, depending on the day. And if I’m running with my team, practice is from 7-8.15pm, so thats a pretty late one! :)

  21. Hey Emma,

love your pictures of oatmeal….so yummy, dude!

You have to help me!!!! Where can I order the Justin`s nut butter! If you tell me, you would be my life safer;-)
Is it a shop in the US? How much taxes do you have to pay for it?

Would be amazing, if you could help me!

    Greetings from Germany

    • Aah friend, have you not discovered the AMAZINGNESS of the website iHerb.com? You will love me forever. It has EVERYTHING pretty much that they have in the States! Bars, nut butter, peanut flour, etc. It ROCKS!! And no, there’s just delivery prices, which aren’t too bad (for the UK anyway).

Oh, and if you want, here’s a $5 off coupon code! SIT837 :)

  22. I’m a massive list person too! I don’t know what I’d do without them :-) I agree with you on spin too, it really does depend on the instructor. I’m trying to stay clear of the hazelnut butter at the mo, I think I ate a jar in a week the last time but I don’t think I’ll be able to resist the urge much longer!

  23. Chocolate + cherries in one chocolate bar?!!! I’m dying to try that!

I’ve never been to a spinning class, but I would love to. All bloggers make them seem like they are SUCH a good workout.

And yes, I’m definitely a Type A, list lover :)

  28. OHMYGOSH I LOVE YOUR MONKEY SUIT. Um can I please come to this party dressed as a banana? We could be partners in crime. Though you might eat me…. whether you’re a monkey or not!

I really hope you get to compete now that you have your waffles :) You’ll feel so fast with them on – it’s crazy! I don’t like wearing my running shoes on XC courses because they feel so heavy. Keep kicking butt in spin class so you can kick butt in that race!

  29. Do I enjoy spinning? Spinning is my obsession. There’s nothing like it! I agree about it depending on teacher. Some are undoubtedly better than others! I’m always disappointed if there’s a substitute in for one of my favorite instructors.

  30. Just found your site and love all the breakfast concoctions, I love making them myself.

I actually wasn’t a huge fan of Justin’s hazelnut butter, when I’m splurging on a choco nut butter I usually go with cocao bliss..have you tried it?
