Warnings and Brownies

HEY lovelies!! Had a good start to the weekend I hope!
I started my Saturday with an early morning BodyPump class!
If I don’t look like the woman on that BodyPump poster soon, then I’m demanding a refund.
I don’t normally do the Saturday morning class, because I’m usually doing music stuff instead, which is how I pay for all those nut butters!
But there’s nothing like feeling this pain first thing on a Saturday morning:![]()
That was me collapsed in pain after the abs track. I love how that woman behind me (and everyone else) had moved on to stretching, but I was still in a heap on the floor. Er, I put more effort in…? Well, that’s what I’m telling myself anyway!
I also did 30 mins of ellipticalling before whilst imagining myself running. I did warn you I was obsessed.
Before I left, I had a cereal-yoghurt mess:![]()
I couldn’t have my usual things because there was NO FOOD. I have this dilemma every Saturday morning, because Saturday is fooood shopping day!! I LOVE food shopping- it’s very high on my list of hobbies, and I wish I was joking when I say that but its totally true…
I had a recovery smoothie after my workout, same as yesterday’s, but topped with PB&Co Crunch Time instead. It really upset me how all the PB sunk before I could take the picture! I guess that just means I should stop eating it outta the jar and just take the photo next time! ![]()
![]()
And then, it was time for CHARITY STUFF!![]()
Last week was Christian Aid week, but my church are a little behind the times, so we did a fundraiser today instead and raised over £3300!! I then went to help at a ‘soup kitchen’:

I loved every minute. I chatted to some people who had such sad stories, and it really showed me just how easy my life is, and how GRATEFUL I should be for all I’m blessed with!
Because I was doing this, I sadly missed out on meeting up with Gabriela, Freya and Carrie, as Gabriela was in London this week, but while I missed out on meeting these gorgeous gals…
(Photo borrowed from Gabriela’s post)
…I know I’ll meet them all in the future, especially since I’m running a half marathon with Freya and Carrie in October! And talking of the race, guess who got their race outfit today?!![]()
MEEE!! Cos guess what charity I’m running for?!![]()
Christian Aid!! I’m part of their Team Poverty, and we are gonna kick both the race’s AND poverty’s butt! More on that soon! But I did get a little carried away…![]()
Look, I’m RUNNING AGAIN!! I did warn you I had a vivid imagination! ![]()
I also warned you that not running caused a severe case of Crazy Face:![]()
I may have camped out in the running section of a bookstore. And I am SO buying that book. Or at least going back and sitting there for another hour until I finish it! It ROCKS so far, and according to the predicted race times in it, I can TOTALLY get my sub 1.35 goal as long as I heal up right and train well!!![]()
Dinner involved these three things in a couple of wraps:![]()
Refried beans from WF, avocado and spicy Sabra hummus. It was SO good!! And I followed it up with…![]()
No-bake Date and Pecan Brownies with Chocolate PB Fudge (adapted from here)
- 2 cups pecans
- 2 cups of chopped+pitted Medjool dates
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1T agave nectar
- 1/4 t salt
- 1 cup smooth nut butter + 1t coconut oil IF you don’t have ‘drippy’ nut butter (mine was oily enough already)
- 1/2 cup semisweet/dark chocolate chips
- Pulse the pecans and dates together in a food processor until mostly incorporated. Then add the cocoa powder, agave and salt and process until combined.
- Press into a 9×9 square tin (I lined mine with foil) and place in fridge.
- Melt the chocolate chips and nut butter (and oil if using) in the microwave, stopping frequently to stir until melted, then pour over the base.
- Place back into the fridge until set (I left overnight), then cut and ENJOY!!
Pouring that choc PB over the base…and then licking out the bowl after…mmmm….
I have been eating these every day since Sunday, and I will be for days to come…![]()
Plus, since Katie’s doing a ‘Hug a Vegan Dessert’ feature (which she so kindly featured last Sunday’s pancakes on today!) I thought I’d really do it:![]()
I did warn you I was a hugger.
I also should’ve warned you that this is the longest post ever. Sorry guys. Hug and make-up for it?![]()
When is your next big race? Next big one is October, but a few before then to look forward to! ![]()
What are you looking forward to most on the rest of your weekend? Sunday morning. If you’re new to the blog, then you should know that I’m in love with my Sunday morning routine of running (well, cross-training now!), then Pancake Sunday, then church! BEST day ever!!
Random Q: Pancakes or waffles? I’ve actually never had a waffle! So I’m rolling with PANCAKES ![]()
Have an AMAZING rest of the weekend!! Love you friends!! <3

That dessert looks absolutely amazing. Thanks for sharing!
I’m glad I’m not the only person who considers food shopping a hobby
hahaha I love it!!! Probably a little too much.
Nice job getting up for the early body pump class!! I always have good intentions but rarely follow through!
Haha I know! Embarassingly, it’s one of the highlights of my week!
Thank you! I find it hard to get up, but I actually sleep in my workout clothes and put my alarm across the room to make me get up! Works like a charm
Finally the brownies!! They look and sound so so amazing!!
you need to get on waffles stat!! but pancakes are good too.
I love this post. Can I just tell you how awesome your happy faces are? I’m beginning to think of them as “signature” as your thumbs up pose!!
We can have a mass meet up in London in the fall? Regardless, I’m coming to the London Marathon to SEE YOU ALL!! So psyched!
Haha yes I know! I need some waffles in my life! And lol SO many people have said that! It definitely is my signature pose- such a cool one too!
YES!! When are you coming then? That’s awesome news!!
My next race is next month, but my next BIG one is in september.
I’m looking forward to monday because it’s a 3-day weekend over here for memorial day! no work or classes.
i like pancakes and waffles equally. waffles because they have pockets to hold nut butter and syrup, pancakes because you don’t need any special kitchen equipment to make it!

Yay for charity fund raising and running a race for charity that is awesome girl! I was signed up as a charity runner for the Make-A-Wish foundation for the marathon last year that I didn’t get to do. I had to raise $750 and I went over it was an amazing feeling!
I really wish my gym had body pump it sounds so awesome.
My next big race is October too but I have a few not as big ones before then. Pancakes or waffles def depends on my mood haha weird I know.
Oh WOW that’s amazing Holly! And the Make-A-Wish foundation is SUCH a great charity! That’s so so awesome of you!!
1. My FIRST race is this weekend, actually. Just a local 5k, but I’m looking forward to saying I ran a race!
2. It’s Memorial Day Weekend here in the States, so I’m looking forward to the race on Sunday, which is a memorial/benefit for a really good friend of mine’s little brother who was killed in Afghanistan last year.
3. WAFFLES, usually, but this dive diner close to my house makes some BALLER pumpkin pancakes in the fall that I always order.
P.S. I love food shopping too – I even offer to do it for friends

GOOD LUCK on your race!! And that’s amazing that it’s for your brother’s friend! What a wonderful way to remember him
And haha best idea EVER about the food shop! I think I need to start doing that too!
My next big race is July 31st! It’s my first half marathon, and I’m super excited!

You would seriously be like the best person to hang out with – I don’t think anyone could be around you and NOT start smiling… I know I always have a smile on my face after reading your posts. Absolutely LOVE how happy you are all the time
I love, love, LOVE Sundays. I spend time with the fam, go to church, and just relax. It’s wonderful. And I’m gonna go with pancakes because they remind me of my grandma… she always used to make them for me when I was a tiny thing.

I always park my butt in the running or cooking section of the bookstore. I could spend HOURS just flipping through the books there. I love it!
My next big race is next saturday. State Championship! I’m the only one on the team who advanced though, which will be kind of lonely, but I’m still super proud of myself. It’s going to be such a fast race and I’m really hoping to PR!!
Tara recently posted..Featured Food Friday- Carrots!
You WILL PR Tara!! And I am SO proud of you for making it to the State Championships! That is the most amazing thing EVER!!
YOU”VE NEVER HAD A WAFFLE?
Okay, get your booty over here and I’m making you one STAT.

Haha don’t tempt me!! Too late, I’m on my way-prepare the waffles!
I am going to the strawberry festival tomorrow and it is going to be the bomb.com. Other than that…no fun plans on my end. Oh boo.

I love that you’re a hugger! You make everything look so loved
And you HAVE to try a waffle! They are like a pancakes crispier equally delicious cousin! They are SO good.
Haha, I totally agree with you! Food shopping is fun, but sadly my boyfriend doesn’t really think so (yeah, weird, I know)
There’s not really much to look forward to this weekend, since I should study for my exams.. History, finnish and maths, I’m so going to die next week..
But let’s think about the positive side of things, only a week of school left!
When it comes to pancakes or waffles, I don’t really know. It’s been ages since I last had a waffle, and if I remember correctly they weren’t too divine (although the crispiness was nice, but they were screaming for toppings). So I think I’m gonna go with the pancakes!
I know, most people I know HATE food shopping!! Crazy people!!
Oooh GOOD LUCK for your exams! And love the positivity there! You’ll do GREAT
With an imagination like yours, you will be up & running in no time, girl! It’s really commendable that you were able to put aside your own activities to help others- priorities fo shiz!
I love both pancakes and waffles but since I consume pancakes way more, I feel like I should be ‘loyal’ & go with them!

Thanks for the recipe, now I have a plan what to do on Sudnay
I love Saturdays because they are also food shopping days for me! But morning workout is also great – some dilemmas are just so hard to solve:))
Hope you enjoyed you Sunday morning routine!! I have also my Sunday “stuff” I always do – baked oatmeal, swimming pool, reading Google reader posts and washing my hair – a lot of work to do:)
Pancakes or waffles? Well, pancakes for me, I think they offer more variability and they are just so tasty!
Thank you so much for sharing your brownis recipe, they sounds really delicious!! I think Ill try them and use hazelnut butter for the fudge
I have a feeling that would be so so good!
Its so good to hear you are doing all the cherity work! You are helping so many! I would love to start doing it too! Both because (obviously) you are helping so many, but also because I think it would be a great way to not focusing so much on myself, how I look, what I miss ect..
Enjoy your favorit Sunday morning
Ragnhild recently posted..Raw Brownies <3
Actually, focusing on others really helped me in my recovery too! So it really does help everyone!
And ooh yes with hazelnut butter they will be sooo good!! I definitely need to make yours too!
YOU WILL SO ROCK that sub 1:35 race time! that would be insane!! i can only run like 9.5 miles in that time! GREAT jo b on the fundraising!!! and KILLEr workout! thats like 2 workouts in one!

OMG, those no-bake brownies have jumped right to the top of me MUST MAKE list! Amazing, thanks Emma!!
And you’ve also reminded me that I want to get my hands on that run less book. It’s tough coming back from an injury, and I think a structured programm that keeps the mileage down is a really good idea

WOOHOO THAT IS EXCELLENT!!!
And definitely, that sounds like a fabulous idea
You know, if you’ve just run a half marathon serious Whole Foods refuelling will have to occur
Haha I couldn’t agree more!! SO on for that!
mmm your yogurt mess looks literally identical to the one i’m eating right now!! red raspberry preserves = BOMB. and lovve the sabra action, you inspired me to go get two jugs yesterday and one is already missing…hmmm! anyway such a bummer you missed the blogger meet up with those gorgeous gals but AH so jealous that you’re running the marathon with those two!! I LOVE your race outfit:) hehe and mhmk so that brownie “pie” i’m calling it, yeah. I need that in my life RIGHT now. Another reason why I need to come visit you too! ahaha why on earth are plane tickets just so dang expensive!

Brownie pie- I like that name!! And yes you DO need it in your life!! When I become a millionaire (with those brownie pies obviously
), I’ll buy us each our own private jet so we can visit each other EVERY DAY and it will be awesome!!

Yay for Body Pump! I did RPM and BodyPump this morning – I love that combo!! Do you do other strength training in addition to Pump? I’m just not sure if Pump is enough. I do 50 pounds for squats and I need to up it, but I’m afraid I’ll fall over as I’m lifting the bar to my shoulders – haha
And your brownies look so delicious – that fudge frosting would make me happy – just that and a spoon…or my fingers. I’m not picky.
Lindsay@LivingLindsay recently posted..Let’s Rewind
Ah I wish we got RPM at our gym! But we do have spin which is roughly the same thing, right?
And WOAH you do 50lbs for squats?! You are my HERO!!
P.S. I totally do that with the fudge, and I highly recommend it
Okay, wow, love this post!!
So long! My favorite! haha
Anywayyy, glad that your workouts have been going so awesome!
And your smoothies look so yum! I just got a blender a couple days ago and have been making pb banana green smoothies like CRAZZYYY
I’ve heard about “Run less. Run faster”. I’m thinking of buying it! Thoughts?
My next big race is Wednesday night! Finals of Nationals in the 10k! Ahh!
Weekend=no school. Long run
Pancakes or Waffles? Hmm.. can’t remember the last time I had a pancake, so I’m gonna go with Waffles cuz I buy the frozen Kashi kind and put greek yogurt + pb on top!
Haley G recently posted..Again and again
Haha LOVE YOU!! I’ve missed you!!
Yaaay those smoothies are the BEST!! Well anything with PB is pretty darn awesome
Yes it seems AWESOME! I read like half the book and I loved it! The plans only involve running 3 times a week, but they’re all ‘quality’ runs as they put it (one speedwork, one tempo, one long) so the idea is you hit your goals without getting injured/burning out!
Oooh Wednesday?! That’s SO exciting!! Seriously, I can’t wait- you will so rock it as always!!
LOVE YOU <3
