I’m BACK!!

HEYA friends!! Aaah missed you guys soooo much!! Being totally without internet for 4 days was WEIRD! (I scheduled my posts to post before I left). I’ll just do a quick (but long!!) post now to catch ya up on the last few days…

Night before I left I made up breakfast and stuck it in the fridge, all ready to go for the 5.45am departure…DSC08277

Angela’s Strawberry Banana Overnight Oats. I think I’d up the oats ratio next time…I love me some oats! Open-mouthed smile

I also packed lunch.DSC08282

A PB apple sandwich and medjool dates. Variety is overrated as I always say! Smile with tongue out

We stayed at…a FOOD hotel!! DSC08376

Each room had a different ‘theme’. I had friends in the cheese room…DSC08323

…in the wine room…DSC08346

DSC08347

…and in the strawberry room…DSC08327

I was in the water room. DSC08315

I would’ve preferred a chocolate room personally, but the size of the TV made up for any disappointment…Winking smileDSC08321

The tour itself was AMAZING!! The weather was SO warm and sunny (and WINDY too in my defence)…207223_10150214046748428_715648427_8561105_5022036_n

I played in a few concerts:

DSC08507

And had a GREAT time with friends!!DSC084991

One of the BEST bits was hitting a Belgian chocolate factory on the journey home (we went through Belgium) and it was HEAVEN.DSC08560

I bought myself a dark chocolate heart, because I love me.DSC08563

Actually, it was because I had spent all my money and this was the only thing I could afford. But it was gooooood! Smile

I also learned some important lessons from this trip….

#1. Do not leave packing till the night before/an hour before you have to leave. You will forget your toothbrush and end up having to buy a rubbish cheap one from a service station.DSC08457

Not impressed.

2. Magazines are the BEST for helping the time to pass on long journeys…DSC08304

FINALLY a running magazine that doesn’t talk about weight loss!! WIN!! Open-mouthed smile

3. Healthy snack bars become an absolute life saver. I HAVE to eat every couple of hours, or I turn into a hangry beast.DSC08441

DSC08444

New fave bar!! I was slightly put off at first by the green colour(!) but it tastes delish and slightly chocolateySO good!! Tons of vitamins, high in protein, and in healthy fats too- win! Open-mouthed smile

4. Bring enough food to feed an army.DSC08544

You’ll be grateful for it when you get handed breaded cheese at dinner as your ‘vegan’ meal and the breakfast buffet is 90% sliced meat and cheese.

5. Hotel room workouts are not easy. Luggage rows are the most difficult move in the universe, especially when your suitcase is filled with food.DSC08354

My friend was cracking up as she took this, but soon shut up when she tried it! Smile with tongue out

6. Sleep whenever you can, because most nights you will get 5 hours sleep max.216914_10150153854837266_731352265_6846859_8263595_n

7. You WILL end up eating ridiculous amounts of sweets until you feel ill (what else is there to do on a 12 hour journey?!)…DSC08540

…but hitting the local supermarket to get some healthy foods will make sure you still get those nutrients!

Sorry for the longest post ever!! I’m now off to catch-up with fam, avoid unpacking, and start to tackle my mile long to-do list! Just in case you missed it, I had two awesome guest posters (Jen and LB) and you should really check out their great posts and leave them some love!! And stay tuned tonight for this week’s Featured Athlete!! Open-mouthed smile

Catch me up with you: what have YOU been doing over the weekend? I’ve missed stalking you all and hearing about your awesome lives, so tell me some stuff please!!!

Are you a last minute packer, or do you pack in advance? I am a last minut-er. I was up at 4.30am packing because I hadn’t done it before! Ooops! Smile with tongue out

What are you looking forward to this week? I’m looking forward to getting back to eating normally again!! And to my RACE on Sunday!! I’m allowed to run it, but not allowed to push myself and have to ease off at the slightest hint of shin pain. But running is running, and even though I won’t be getting the sub 21 time I was hoping for, I WILL still get a sub 20 5k at some point this year, believe it!!

P.S. Did you check out my post on Running With Mascara? It’s got some running goals I’ve never shared before…!

P.P.S. Your sweet comments on my leaving post made me well up so much!! You guys are the BEST!!

Have a great day friends!! Missed you loads!!

  1. Sounds like you had a great time in Germany. That hotel sounds great! Glad the tour went well, and your welcome for the guest post. :)

  2. Whoa that food hotel looks AWESOME!
I should look into that magazine, I'm sick of seeing so many pages that say "lose wight by doing this blah blah blah"
Glad your back, looks like you had fun :D

  3. Hey! Glad you had such a great time- the weather looks amazing and I love the themed rooms! No peanut butter room though ??? :)
I loved the guest posts- really great to see some other blogs. As for packing, I need to pack in advance otherwise I get very stressed indeed! So last night I did my list and today I am packing (when I finish reading blogs ahem!) ready for tomorrow night.
I see you read my weekend news already :)

  4. The breaded cheese is actually vegan wiener schnitzel! A traditional German meal.

  5. I always start packing in advance but I am a bit of a organisation freak! I think I'll be taking a leaf from your book and packing lots of vegan snack bars for when I travel!

  6. A food hotel? Ohmygosh. You can't write that!
Gah Europe is lovely and all – but seriously, they do love their meat! Do vegans even exist on the continent!? I remember getting served veal for breakfast once, and one time I wanted a vegetarian dish, and got given melon with ham. Riiiight….
    Glad you had fun!

  7. WOAH! ahahahh i LOVE THAT HOTEL!! how cute! i m a sucker for themed rooms!
and that chocolate heart is MAD good looking!!!!!!

where did you get that BG bar!?!

  8. I had the same problems when I went on a school history trip to Eastern Europe. People were confused as to why I chose not to eat cheese or meat (the staples of everyone else's packed lunches). I'm sure there are plenty of people who understand veganism there but sadly I didn't meet any. It was quite a relief to get home to England!

  9. celeryandcupcakes

Looks like you had a great trip! I think I will be packing alot of food too when I go away on my trip. :D

  10. love the food/snack pics as always!

    -ran a 10k race! PR!
    -last minute. that's so me.
-getting back on track with my general training – short runs/weekend long run – after a half and 10k in back-to-back weekends!

    welcome back :)

  11. Yay! So happy to see you back.

Germany looks really quirky: I’ve always wanted to go there, but have been told by everyone that’s been that it is a vegan and even veggie nightmare. Congrats for surviving!

Those luggage rows look intense…I’m not sure I’d be able to do more than four or five reps…

I am disorganised and always pack things at the very last minute or second. I would have forgotten more than just a toothbrush for sure!

At the weekend I was racing and getting horribly sunburnt :P Good luck with your race: I’m sure you’ll do well even if you don’t get that sub-20 time.

    xxx

  12. Aw I'm glad you're back! Missed you! Loved this post. Looks like you had fun! Your hair is amazingly long! I didn't realise just how long before! That health bar looks great – super healthy! Nice to have you back in Blighty!

  13. Glad you had a fun trip…. i was in STOCKLHOLM!!!! yup and i to packed lastminute and forgot my toothpaste. so between you and me, we’d have had some pretty stanky breath! toothpaste must be a low priority cos my friend forgot hers too! luckily our other friend had packed a big tube, so we were all colgate buddies :-)

Jealous for your sunny weather tho, we left london in a heatwave (hello, people sunbathing in the park) and entered swedish chill city. scarves/gloves/thermal vests, nice to know you… not!

I never thought id be glad to get back to England for its weather!
    xx

    • HAHAHA ironically, I remembered to bring 2 tubes of toothpaste, but no toothbrush!! At least you could be Colgate buds though…I think toothbrush buds is taking it a little far…! :P

Hope you enjoyed Stockholm, despite the cold! :)

  14. Allison @ Runs A Latte

So glad you had a good trip! You can't go wrong staying in a food-themed hotel! I have never seen anything like that before!

I can't believe you packed an hour before you left! That's totally insane! I would never be able to even fall asleep if I hadn't packed early enough. I'm like the anti-procrastinator, which is both a gift and a curse.

  15. I used to play the violin!! Glad you had a fantastic trip! We missed you :)

  16. Sarah(everydaysapicnic)

I love the themed hotel room idea – I agree though, a chocolate room would have been MUCH better!

I always forget something, even if I pack well in advance – usually my toothbrush or hair brush.

  17. The room themes are awesome! My friends and I would have a field day…

Hope your trip went great and you enjoyed yourself!

  18. Oh no, I’m sorry you weren’t given decent food in Germany! I live in Berlin and there are plenty vegan options here… You should definately come here next time! =)

  19. I cant get over the food hotel-what a genius idea!

  20. i love seeing your smile. Looks like a great time! Exhausting, but so worth it!! Next time, tooth brush will be the first thing you pack. Rest up friend. ;)

  21. Yay, you’re back! The chocolate factory sounds amazing!!

  22. Glad you are back! Looks like it was a busy weekend! I particularly like the fact that you stayed at a food hotel bahahaha…

I love reading your posts because of all the positive and self-loving vibes I get from you. Everyone needs to be reminded that it's important to love themselves.

  23. That hotel has got to me the coolest place I have ever seen. Only…what's wrong with them? No chocolate room? No date room? No oat room? Obviously they were not notified that YOU were coming!

And girl, I'm a last-minute packer too. Ain't no shame in it! :)

  24. Yay so glad you're back! That hotel has got to be one of the coolest hotels I've ever seen before. So jealous of your trip to Germany, I'm dying to go abroad after I graduate!! :)

  25. Firstly, welcome back! Glad you had a good time, where abouts in Germany were you? I have some family there and went to visit in February this year.

I love Running Fitness, my mum sent me a copy when I was out in oz and now its my running mag of choice now I'm home!

Oh and I'm a last-minute packer, I do lots of short trips each year so I'm pretty used to throwing everything in a bag 10 minutes before leaving!

PS My weekend consisted of a 20 mile run!!! xx

  26. Welcome back!!! Looks like you had a great time!! Love the pics! You are so pretty!! Can I have your hair?!? :)

  27. welcome back beautiful Emma! The themed rooms crack me up–so you right?! You totally needed to stay in the chocolat, PB, oat room though! h!

You look fabulous in your pictures!! Thank you for shaing them. And, thank you so much for your kind comments on my post! You make me smile!!

  28. Ahhh I'm so glad your back sista! I missed your posts so much. I'm so jealous of your chocolate loot. Love it. Oh and that hotel is way to cool to be true. I don't know if I believe you. I would like to stay in the banana room and paint the walls with peanut butter.
Over the weekend I went prom dress shopping and made lots of pancakes! It was da bombskis. I absolutely loooove my dress. I'm so excited!

  29. thisitalianfamily

Ahh welcome back!! I've just now been catching up on all your posts (I know what you mean about your Google Reader rarely having no unread items, haha!). :)

Oh my goodness, that hotel looks SO cool! Seriously! I love the themes! Looks like you had such a great time. It's a good thing for sure that you brought your own food! :)

  30. Your faces are too freaking cute in all of these! And I loved seeing all your yummmtastic travel snacks! I always wayyyy overpack 'em too:) Chocolate is my main thing that I absolutely MUST have a never ending supply of though; (So I bring like literally 20,000 bars!) haha

  31. Sounds like you had a great tiime, loved reading your recap, don't apologise for the length it could have been longer for me hehe
