Friday FAVES!!

HEY chicas!! Having a great Friday? It’s time for my weekly FRIDAY FAVOURITES!!


1. Awesome Friday brekkie!DSC08059


Choco-banana oat bran, topped with cacao nibs and more banana. Deeelish and SOOO filling!! This kept me full for HOURS, which, trust me, isn’t easy!! Smile with tongue out


2. Pain-free elliptical sesh yesterday!! I miss running SO much (5 days…) but I was let on the elliptical yesterday, which is the closest thing! I was very tentative at first, going slow and leaning more on my right (good) leg, but it felt fine so I went all out! Part-way through:DSC08053

I covered 15k in total. Gotta keep up as much of that running fitness as poss!! Race only 2 weeks away…! Open-mouthed smile 


I was SO happy after this!! I must admit there were a few tears on the elliptical so I looked like a complete loon. THIS is what no running does to me!! I go MAD!! Smile with tongue out


3. Cinammon-Raisin Peanut Butter.DSC08037

I’ve NEVER TRIED the PB&Co version, so I can’t compare, but this stuff tastes so GOOD that I just have to share the recipe…


Cinnamon-Raisin Peanut Butter (based on Angela’s measurements from this recipe)

Possibly the best combination known to mankind, cinnamon-raisin meets peanut butter. And boy is it good…light cinnamon taste with whole sweet raisins in a creamy peanut butter. Can’t beat it.

  • 2 cups peanuts
  • 1.25 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/8 t sea salt
  • 3/4 T coconut oil
  • 2.5 t date/maple syrup (I used half and half)
  • 1/3 cup raisins
  1. Grind peanuts in a food processor until a oily butter is formed. This may take 10-15 mins, depending on your food processor. Make sure it looks oily before moving on.
  2. Add in all the other ingredients except the raisins and process again. Taste, and adjust amounts if desired.
  3. Add raisins, and either stir in, or quickly process until combined.
  4. Pour into a jar/container and ENJOY!!


(Technically, you’re sposed to store homemade nut butters in the fridge and leave out for 20 mins before eating, but I never have, and I’m still alive.)


4. Peanut butter overload:DSC08052

Peanut butter roasted parnsips, and a microwave oat cake topped with cinnamon-raisin PB. Plus PB fingers x 10000 Winking smile Oh, and I had a peanut butter sandwich for lunch. Overload.


5. Trail mix.DSC08067

I ran out of dates halfway through the day after finishing off half the pack, and this was my lifesaver in the evening. I actually had a mouthful of raisins as this picture was taken, but lets just pretend we haven’t noticed the hamster cheeks or noted my dried fruit addiction.


6. Baking time!! What else would a young person do on a Friday night other than spend it in the kitchen?! I made brownies…DSC08084

I know a few of you will be skeptical, and trust me, I was too when I first heard of them!! But I’ve made them SO many times, and they are SO GOOD!! I’ve also tested on the fam, who had no idea!! Win! Open-mouthed smile 


Also made Katie’s cookie dough balls for one. That girl actually looked into my heart and saw my biggest desire in the world, and then made it come true. Of course, I then had to add some PB…



Made with 2 tsp of smooth PB instead of oil, and subbed some of the flour for Sun Warrior vanilla protein powder. SO DARN DELICIOUS you all have to make these ASAP, k? Open-mouthed smile


7. Looking forward to Satdee!! I’ve got an early workout planned which I can’t wait for, cos I’m always fidgety after a rest day! I’ve got my overnight oats packed…DSC08030

Cookie Dough overnight oats. With two of my crumbled raw date choccie-chip cookie dough balls. The lovely Little Bookworm, who clearly knows me too well, emailed me her recipe for Cookie Dough Overnight Oats. I had them after spin on Wednesday and it is AMAZING. Oh cookie dough, I love you…


I’m also getting my gait re-analysed tomorrow:gaitanalysis


I’ve had it done once before, but the expert guy thinks ill-fitting shoes might be causing the shin problem, so I’m getting it done again tomorrow! Hopefully I won’t have to buy new shoes. I may have to sell my hair for some mula otherwise.


So I’m off to do some yoga before bed. Stay tuned for my April goals tomorrow!! Open-mouthed smile

What is your favourite on-the-go breakfast? It used to be PB+banana sandwiches, but it’s overnight oats now! I just pack them in a tub and eat them! I get a lot of weird looks though! Smile with tongue out

  3. Oh my gosh, Emma! LOL I always thought we were alike, and this just confirms it: I asked the exact same question in my post today about on the go breakfasts! We share a mind!!! Now if only we could share some black bean brownies… whatcha think? Will you share with me? I’ve had that recipe bookmarked 4eva and haven’t gotten around 2 it yet.

    Anyways, I love u and omg love your protein powder idea!!!

    Glad you were able to elliptical without pain! Hopefully everything goes well tomorrow re: shoes and gait analysis!
    (ohhh, and I’d always wondered about whether I was supposed to store my homemade nut butters in the fridge, too! I usually don’t either :P)

  8. Yay for pain free ellipticizing! It's so hard to part with running, but it will be worth it when you kick butt in your race!
    Friday Faves: YOUR CINNAMON RAISIN PEANUT BUTTER OMNOMNOM; A kid who randomly said hi to me in the hallway that totally made my day; a trip to whole foods!
    My favorite on the go breakfast is pb and j and a piece of fruit. I also like eating dry granola, so sometimes I just eat a huge container of that.

  12. i feeeel you! i got agreat run in eysterday but now it hurts AGAIN.. BOOO im srsly going mental.. running is the only workout that really works me and makes me feel on top of the world!! i LOVe your friday favs!! esp the cookiedough overnight oats! and katies balls! cookie dough for sure!!!!!

  13. Yum I like the idea of adding in the coconut oil to it- mine was meridian pb, raisins and cinnamon (and I think brown rice syrup as it went very thick??) but it is quite thick and hard to spread. :)

  14. Heck, 15k on the elliptical must be almost 90 minutes! That’s crazy!!

    Cookies all the way!! On the go breakfast is usually cereal eaten rapidly as I hustle out the door :)

  16. oh I am so excited for you to get your gait analysis done! Keep me posted. It really does help with preventing injuries. My gait has changed so much too!

    YES to the peanut butter coated parsnips! Amazing right!??
    But cacao/carob nibs – gosh, I can't stomach them – foul things. Friday UNfaves possibly..

    • You DON'T like cacao nibs?! They are SOOO good!! So bitter and crunchy and yum:) I would call you a crazy person, but you introduced me to the PB coated parsnips, so you can't be totally mad! :P Seriously, those are the best things EVER you are a GENIUS!! :D

  19. can I ask a question about the eliptical (I prefer calling it the cross trainer cause eliptical is hard to spell; ) But how do you find it compared to running, is there anywhere that compares the two. For example if you were able to complete 10k on the eliptical in 40 mins how fast would that compare to running the 10k I find I am A LOT faster on the eliptical than the treadmill do you?
