Failures

HEY friends!! Hope you’re having a great weeeknd!

I’m loving all the entries for the Sun Warrior giveaway!! Keep ‘em coming!

Much as I loved today, I had a number of failures…

Breakfast was a fail. Tried to sub Sun Warrior protein powder into my PB+J breakfast cake instead of flour. Note to self: flour is necessary, or it will be a crumbly mess. Next time, I will sub SOME flour, but not all!!DSC07923

Still tasted good though! And nothing more PB and raisins couldn’t fix…DSC07926

I had a fail on the food variety front. My nut butter consumage (<— add that word to your dictionaries- I have already) today was off the charts. On and in breakfast, in dessert (non-dairy chocolate ice-cream topped with Dark Chocolate Dreams)DSC07944

in dinner (a last-minute gig came up so I had to leave fast, ergo two PB sandwiches)…DSC07949

…and in snacks (apple with almond butter)DSC07954

Not to mention straight from the jar bucket…DSC07823

Clearly I have a very varied diet! Winking smile

I made up for this fail by having an awesome track workout!!

Track 400m repeats run:

1.5 mile warm-up
4 x 400’s at fast pace + recovery laps inbetween
1 mile cooldown

Fast lap paces (in min/mile): 6.00, 5.59, 5.55, 5.55.

I had planned to do more repeats, but when the shin started complaining, I decided to listen and just enjoy the laps I managed to do! Not to mention foot pain from all the blisters!

I had a slight fail with outfit choice though…

DSC06648

vest top and shorts in the rain. Still, I refuse to not wear my Nike Tempo shorts on the track. They make me feel like I can fly! Especially when paired with my beloved Fire Shoes…DSC07695

Am I ever going to stop raving about them? No, sorry, I love them too much Smile

I also failed by leaving my clothes in the track changing rooms. Complete with my phone which was in my jeans pocket. And then only realising this after the track had shut. I know where I’ll be returning tomorrow! Smile with tongue out

My self-control failed me. I went to a quiz night with friends, and these two items didn’t leave my side the whole time…DSC07952

(Photography fail. You know you all want photography lessons from me- I’m such a talent clearly!!). The Pringles not so much (chocolate>crisps/potato chips), but I cannot be trusted around dark chocolate buttons. I demolished nearly the whole pack single-handedly, and it was goooood! Smile

But UNfail/win of the day was getting an answer at the quiz that NO-ONE else got!! My running geekiness/Paula Radcliffe obsession paid off with this question: “What is the current women’s world record for the marathon?”. I practically leapt up and screamed “2.15.25 by my beloved Paula at the London Marathon in 2003!!”. I redeemed myself for being completely useless in every other aspect. Basically I was just there for the food- everyone knew it! Winking smile

TOMORROW is Sunday, and we all know that is my FAVE day!! My Sunday routine will be shaken up a bit tomorrow because I’m going to see my friend get baptised (YAY!!) in the morning. But there will still be Pancake Sunday, church and a run, so it’s all good! Open-mouthed smile

Have you had any ‘fails’ today? I will add procrastinating writing this post to the list. It is 1am right now here. Ooops!

Is your diet varied? Erm…no. It is 99% nut butter, chocolate, dates and broccoli.

Chocolate or crisps/potato chips? Sweet tooth or salty? I think you know my answer! Smile with tongue out

Enjoy the rest of your weekend friends!!

P.S. If you didn’t know, I am a musician and I am going on a mini-tour (I have a longer one in summer) to Germany from April 9th-12th, and I would LOVE if a couple of you guys could guest post for me? Email me if you’re interested at sweet_tooth_runner@hotmail.co.uk and I will love you even more if you do!! Smile

  1. By "consumage" you mean consumption, right? I must say, consumage is a far cooler word… And how could eating large quantities of nut butter be a bad thing? I just realized that I have eaten about a third of my new almond butter jar in less than 48 hours – you're not alone!

Good luck with your tour in Germany!

  2. hey sweetie! i'll totally do a guest post for you if you'd like :-) I ran London marathon in 2009 and love Lindt with sea salt……..and i'm Emma too! Maybe it's meant to be!

  3. My fails of the day: staying in bed all day because I've felt sick after drinking a little too much after the Seminoles loss last night :(

I"m a total salt tooth person! Occasionally I'll crave sweets, but I mostly love chips & salty foods. AND CARBS! ohhhh how I love my carbs ;)

  4. Be fit and be fabulous

Haha, I just loved reading this. You crack me up! I believe peanut butter should be consumed every single day, in my humble opinion. : )

Hahaha, I've eaten nothing but straight up carbs and peanut butter the past two days. No complaints here! :P

  5. Love the speedy track workout, and of course your speedy shoes too :)
Your consumption of delicious peanut butter and chocolate would be considered a success in my book. Variety may be the spice of life, but who needs spice when you have peanut butter and chocolate?!

  6. You owned that track workout. Super speedy.

    My fails of today: none!

  7. fashionfitnessfoodie

haha emma you are hilarious. i had PB overload on thursday but lets be honest…can you really ever have too much PB!!!!

  8. whatkateiscooking

I like pringles, but not nearly as much as I like sweet snacks!

Also, I have totally done the same thing with clothes in the locker room. I left my purse in there too- phone, wallet, everything. What a pain!

  9. I have fails like this all the time! Oh well…we're human, right? :) Have a great Sunday girl!

  10. I used to love crisps but now its chocolate every time! I could easily eat nut butter all day everyday it is just so good but I do like a bit of variety. Hope you have a great day!

  11. Nowt wrong with pb overload! :) I am not a fan of crisps- I cannot remember the last time I ate them, maybe a couple of years ago? We sometimes have them on holiday if we are somewhere hot as I think I like the salt then. But normally it would be chocolate all the way. I had a fail the other day when my homemade rice pud experiment exploded in the microwave! But some of it was still edible!

  12. Sorry about the breakfast fail. I celebrated Pancake Sunday today too, using your pancake recipe! :D Oh and chocolate definitely – the darker, the better!

  13. Woah, Montezumas do BUTTONS!? Why have I never seen that before!? Godo gosh.
Fails…nope! None! Fab run, (though not 5.55 fab, crikey lady!) but revision was crummy..I shan't see it as a failure though, merely a 'learning curve' :p

  14. oh I love the failed recipes, they make us more creative. At least they still taste good! and great job with the quiz, love that passion!

  15. Great track workout! 4 repeat is a great start!! And those splits are super fast!

  16. oh my gosh we need to have a nut butter battle cuz im pretty sure i could beat you! i eat that stuff SO MUCH- absolute love!!
ahh sorry for your fails.. YES protein powder does not cook as well as flour-ive tried that before too! my fails are just my foot pain but im still working with JILLSTER… your track workout is awesome!! i sure hope you ate some pancakes today (it is SUnday!)

  17. I have that 2:15:25 engrained into my brain too ~ so happy that it came in useful! I am usually a sweet person all the way, though in my youth I was partial to a Pringle or sixteen. When I'm ill or get a migraine I crave salty foods though…in those scenarios, sweet ones tend to make me more nauseous.

Hope you had a brill Sunday :)

    xxx

  18. Allison @ Runs A Latte

I wouldn't call all of those fails! Could eating too much nut butter really be a fail! I mean you had tons of energy for a great run, except the whole shin thing.

I'm totally making Katie's Red Velvet Pancakes this morning…SO.EXCITED! Love pancake Sundays – even though I may have had pancakes for dinner last night (oops)!

  19. sweet tooth all that way, girl. Nice track workout! I would rather fail at breakfast than a workout, that's for sure. You are adorable with your Paula Radcliffe love – I can't believe you even know her time!

I didn't know you were a musician – how cool and interesting!

  20. I'm a chocolate girl for sure. Awesome track run:)
I would like to think my diet is varied, but it isn't, haha.
Mostly nut butters, oats, chocolate, quinoa, and hummus…..not like that's a problem though;)

  21. You have to have some food fails in order to have some successes too!

  22. shiningfromwithin

You crack me up! Sometimes all my day consists of is bread… and pasta. NOMS! But I try hard to keep it varied!!! I love variety – it's the spice of life ;) . Uhm, definitely SWEET TOOTH over hur. But I love my salty chips every now and then :D .

  23. You're so funny Emma! I love your bucket o' peanut butter. Yesterday was actually an UN-fail day for me! I cooked 10 different dishes and individually froze over 60 meals. Go, me! But I did fail a bit. Because I didn't wash all of the dishes I used in my cooking marathon. And now they're sitting in the sink, all crusted up. Crap. (note to self: NEVER buy another house without a dishwasher)

  24. I think your bfast still looks amazing!! AWESOME RUN GIRL!!! You are SO SO SPEEDY!!! Pringles are delicious….now I am craving them. I LOVE YOUR OUTFIT GORGEOUS GIRL!!!

  25. Hmm variety in my diet? Oatmeal, chocolate, peanut butter, cottage cheese, strawberries, and cereal? Nope no variety here ;)

  26. Let's see, nut butter, oatmeal, chocolate, veggies… not much variety there! ;) Oh well, there all things I looooove, and no day (or meal…) is complete without every single one of them!!
And definitely sweet tooth for me! Ask my family and you will know that I don't like things salty, but I something sweet can always find its way into my meals :D

    <3

  27. sweet and salty! have you ever tried a chocolate covered pringle? i'm not kidding – i went to a potluck and someone had made them.

i love your blue nike top. i might take a jaunt across the pond and come steal it from you. kidding, but not really. i want it! MUAH!

  28. Lolzthatswim(andRun)

My diet is 99% pancakes and waffles. No issues here.

I agree-I need to wear something tight and close fitting for track speed workouts for real.

  29. thisitalianfamily

Sorry you forgot your clothes! Hopefully you'll be able to get them back tomorrow!

Oh man, Pringles are such good stuff. Though I get way addicted to them, haha!

  30. eatinglikeahorse

You ate the pb with different things… so I think that counts as a varied diet!
Mine isn't as varied as it should be because I eat a steamed veg mountain and roasted butternut every night. But it's soooo good :-)
And I'm sweet over savoury all the time; the thought of a savoury breakfast?? Ewww….!
