There’s a first for everything
| March 23, 2011 | Posted by Sweet Tooth Runner under Uncategorized |
HEY friends!! Hope you’re having a great week!!
My life is generally pretty routine. Eat, sleep, run, as shown by an old photo of me modelling my favourite hoodie:![]()
BUT I had a number of ‘firsts’ today!
There’s a first for getting up at 5.30am to workout, and being IN the gym at 6.30 in the morning…![]()
Well actually I was there at 6.15, but had to wait outside in the cold with a group of over 65’s (who, by the way, have THE most explicit conversations EVER!!) waiting for their early-morning line dancing class…woke me up a bit! ![]()
There’s a first for breaking a spin bike in the middle of spin. Only me…sigh. I blame the bike. Everything was going swimmingly sweatingly…![]()
…until my seat fell off in the middle of sprints. I almost went with it. Embarrassing times. I switched bikes but everyone was looking at me- not such a good thing when you have serious Bed Head! ![]()
I LOVED the early morning spin!! I thought I would be super-tired afterwards, but I was actually more energised!! A lot of you said the same thing in the comments yesterday! I am definitely going back next week! ![]()
There’s a first for overnight oats! I had never had this before! Had to have an on-the-go packed breakfast because of spin. (Details on these oats tomorrow)![]()
That’s the kind of quality photography you get when you have less than 1 minute to leave or serious lateness will occur. And that’s the kind of quality ‘Tupperware’ you use when you are penniless…![]()
Old marg tub. Classy.
There’s a first for getting this average pace on a run…especially when it’s a recovery run…![]()
5.42 min/mile- I was SO excited. Until I remembered I was on the Treadmill Of Lies. It has tricked me before. This treadmill once told me I’d run a 3 minute mile. Sweet Tooth Runner broke the world record for the mile by 43 seconds yahooo!! ![]()
There’s a first for pecan pie in bar form:![]()
It’s alright. Not a fave Nakd bar (erm, cocoa delight?!), and definitely not as good as real pecan pie!
Mmm note to self: make vegan pecan pie asap!!
There’s a first for healthy raw cookie dough that tastes pretty much EXACTLY like cookie dough…![]()
Warning: highly addictive. I had over half the batch today- oops! ![]()
And coming up tomorrow is my GIVEAWAY!! YAAAAAAY!! ![]()
Have you done anything new recently? I also tried washing my hair for once, with pleasing results.
Have you had overnight oats? Are you a fan? I like them, but not as much as normal oatmeal I don’t think.
What’s your favourite kind of pie? Chocolate. Obviously! ![]()
Enjoy the rest of your week lovely friends!!
P.S. A few of you asked about my cookie dough baked oatmeal yesterday. I followed Katie’s recipe (I linked to it in the post) pretty much exactly, except I used 1/2 banana instead of applesauce and added nut butter for some more cals ![]()

LOL at your tub! Oh that is the most adorable thing ever!!!
I love overnight oats – have you seen all of Angela's recipes? Yeah there are some amaaaze ones there
First hey…um…nope, I haven't done anything new, nothing at all. Not even new underwear. (that last bit IS sarcasm!)
Pie? No thank you -I'm not a pie fan at all! I don't like pastry
Is it strange that I've never really had pie? Perhaps that should go on my 'firsts' list of things I need to try!
Did you get in that pace for your run on the same day as spin? Even on a treadmill of lies, that is awesome.
I didn't like the Nakd Pecan Pie bar either, nor its Larabar counterpart eons ago when one could actually buy a Larabar in the UK: they just seem really negative and tasteless. I'd rather eat a bunch of roasted pecans and dates separately.
I didn't used to like overnight oats but adding chia seeds makes a big difference to the taste, thickness and texture, as does protein powder.
xxx
Love Overnight Oats – generally more in the summer though. Have to add banana to them, cocoa powder is also good.
Pie – not a huge pie fan, though apple pie is nice.
It's so strange that you wrote about overnight oats today! I literally JUST commented on someone else's blog saying how I've never made them before. I thought I was the only person in the world who had never eaten overnight oats. I'm looking forward to hearing about how you liked them! The picture looks very gourmet. I'm impressed. Haha!
OMG I'm SO glad I'm not the only one who's addicted to cookie dough!!! I made some and ate the whole batch in like 3 days haha… it's soooooooooo good. No offense, but that's hilarious that your seat fell off during sprints! People beast on those bikes during sprints so I can only imagine how it would be if I saw someone's seat fly off LOL. Overnight oats = da bombizzle
oh my gosh, your seat fell off? thats crazy!!! is your bum ok? hehe. And wow, youre getting fast. Can you please come train me with that speed!?
Hope you enjoyed your overnight oats! I had some today and probably will again tomorrow haha
LOVE that sweatshirt!! hahahahahaha I also love that you broke the bike in spinning class, that takes talent my friend:) I totally eat gross rushed breakkies and snacks sometimes and take horrible pics to go with them! (usually I just delete them later anyway because I can't imagine posting such bad shots!) and that is one FREAKING amazing average pace…you're so inspirational!
Your sweatshirt = story of my life. It's the best story I could ever ask for though!
I was so confused by the treadmill pic. I was like "6.5 mph and 5 minute miles!? The universe as deceived me!" That has never happened to me before!
Today I made granola for the first time! And I burnt it for the first time… I will succeed on my next try!
Wow, I've never seen a seat fall off! Glad you didn't fall off with it! I can't wait for my favorite spin class tomorrow.
I tried overnight oats last year but wasn't a fan. Last week, I made them differently – with chia seeds & almond milk, and they turned out so doughy. Now, I love them! They're so easy to grab & go & eat at my internship in the morning.
haha you broke the bike!?? i love it…i almost broke my back in boot camp yesterday so we are in the same boat
I think I love every sing one of those posts – including those cookie dough balls! Glad you didn’t fall off the bike!!
I LOVE overnight oats. I made it with muesli this morning and it was yummy! I add flaxseed to mine, so that it goes really creamy.
Woohoo nice work on the run and spin
I make my porridge overnight, but I still heat it up as I like it warm. And I think the pecan piue nakd bar needs more spices as I didnt think it tastes much of anything.
I have a pecan pie nakd bar the other day. You're right, they're a bit meh. I like the cashew cookie the best
Great job on the early morning spinning class. And I love your tupperware!
I wish my gym would do an early morning spin class, I would love that! I had an overnight oats type breaky this morning (not techically oats – quinoa flakes and chia seeds) and it was awesome!
I've learnt to love overnight oats. I still put them inthe microwave for a a minute or so to take the chill off them though.
Yayy for getting up early for spin!! Don't feel bad for breaking the bike. On Monday morning when I went my foot slipped out of the pedals during sprints. Ugh. Love that sweatshirt!!
Glad you liked early morning spin, despite the seat snafu! hehe. I love overnight oats – the consistency is so delicious and I kind of like that they're cold!
ABAJAHA oats in the marg tub.. VERY classy i LOVE
ahh i so wnt to try spin- i think id LOVE IT!! music, high energy- 100% my THING! ivenever had overnight oats- i like EM HOT! possibly in the summer tho il giv em a bang!
Favorite pie.. pumpkin. Yum:)
Overnight oats are good, but I'm not quite ready to bring them back yet, probably in the summer when it's HOT.
wowww, go you – that is eeeaaarrly!
and no shame in using old marg containers for tupperware. I dig it.
p.s. I've never had overnight oats and def think I'd prefer the hot ones. I'll try 'em when it's hot out, though!
I keep meaning to try overnight oats, but that would require me to remember to put them in the refrigerator overnight. I have thus far been unsuccessful in doing so.
Overnight oats are on my list of things to try! They're so easy and yet I keep not doing it.
Congrats on your ultra-speedy 1-miler! Hey, I say own that time! You rock!
Love the hoody!
Oh dear! Sorry about the seat falling! Glad you didn't get injured.
I still haven't tried overnight oats… I'll get there someday, haha!
I nearly bought that hoodie the other day!
It might change come summer though!
And I like overnight oats, just not as much as hot oats
I think using old marg tubs is genius! haha half of food is in old salsa jars!!
I love VOO!!!!!
And my fave pie? o my~can't decide. gives me brain cramps thinking about it
I bet it DOES feel great moving early in the morning
I think I'm doing something wrong with the overnight oats as mine haven't been that great, some experimenting needed I think! I need to improve them as I like having breakfast when I get to work and my new place has no microwave so I can't make porridge
(
Something new for me is running home from work in london, did it for the first time yesterday and again today, I love it!
Favourite pie has to be apple!
I think I might have been shopping in a similar place to you for my "lunchboxes"…!
And hat off to you for getting up at 5.30am that's amazing. I agree that I feel better when I've cycled in the morning but don't think I'd have that sort of motivation
I can take or leave overnight oats; they're ok but porridge kicks their arse!
[...] I used a vanilla sachet in yesterday’s overnight oats: [...]

Wow, I admire you for having the motivation to get up so early! I am SO not a morning person. I've never tried overnight oats but really want to.
i can't get with overnight oats.. the texture is just too weird for me! that raw cookie dough ball looks DELISH. omg.. i want.
I love the 65+ year-olds in my early morning gym classes!
