I. Love. Track.

Great photo of me looking like a complete DORK. Not that you don’t see photos like that on this blog on a daily basis anyway!
Be prepared to see many more in this post…
So I got up, and it was SUNNY!!
And there were BLUE SKIES!! This is London we’re talking about, so it’s kinda rare! I was a bit disorientated…did I move to Cali in my sleep? But no…the world just loved me today. Actually, that’s a lie. I woke up to this sad sight…![]()
That is my fruit basket. No bananas. WHAT AM I TO DO?!?! My pre-run PB toasts with banana was not to be…but I had something even BETTER instead…. ![]()
PB on toast with dates, and almond butter on toast with sultanas. DELISH. And lets just pretend I haven’t gone through a whole 500g pack of dates in 3 days, k? ![]()
So then I put on my fave shoes- my racing flats that I hadn’t worn since the mud incident. I missed you Fire Shoes…![]()
And then after getting a little lost en-route and ending up taking a nice 45 min accidental stroll through a park, I hit the track!!![]()
Track run:
1 mile warm-up
6 x 400 metres at fast pace (avg pace 6.01 min/mile, best pace 5.36 min/mile) with a recovery jog lap inbetween
1 mile cool down
So. Much. Fun. I want to do this EVERY DAY. I’ll never get tired of it. Just as I’ll never get tired of chocolate milk…![]()
…or huge steaming bowls of broccoli…![]()
…or dark chocolate covered brazil nuts, or which I may or may not have eaten almost a whole pack of today…![]()
Track runs are definitely a new fave! ![]()
Okay, so tomorrow I’ll probably do a recovery run instead of my usual Sunday hill run…but other than that it’ll be my usual Sunday thang: hill run, pancakes and church. If that isn’t a winning combo, I don’t know what is!! ![]()
Oh, and I have BIG plans for tomorrow’s pancakes, involving one of my main food groups…! You’ll have to wait and see! ![]()
If you’re a runner, what is your favourite type of run? I read a poll in Runner’s World that said that most people prefer long, relaxed runs, but I think track runs are just so much FUN!! So maybe that beats it for me…
What is one thing you’ll never get bored of? I’ve already said running, so chocolate. I am WAY too predictable!!
What was your highlight of your day, or what are you looking forward to tomorrow? Obviously my run was the highlight, and I’m looking forward to everything tomorrow!! I love my Sundays! ![]()
Have a great Sunday friends!!

OMG I am so looking forward to a run tomorrow. I didn’t get to run today but I plan to get out there tomorrow and get ‘er done!
BTW I’m your newest follower! And if you ever need a guest blogger I’m your gal. Come check out my blog. http://feetdominatingpavement.blogspot.com. Cheers!
I love the track-running photo! As for food that will never bore me…I’ve been eating oatmeal for breakfast most mornings for most of my life, so I’m gonna go with oatmeal!
It looks beautiful out there today! Glad you had a great, FAST track workout. I like long, relaxed runs, but fast runs always make me feel so good & hardcore. I’ll never get bored of oats or green monsters or chocolate because there’s just so many ways to eat them all. Or endorphins – gotta have those.

When banana's are all gone I'm usually not the happiest person to be around
I've been none to had them when there is only one left to ensure I will have one the next morning. ha.
I've never tried brazil nuts – want to badly though.
I'm not really a runner. I love going for jogs but I only do that 1-2 a week.
I'll never get bored of nut butters or hot yoga.
Oh and by the way, I I'm megan I just found your blog. You seem very positive and I can't wait to read more

HEY Megan!!
Aaah you HAVE to try Brazil Nuts!! And I have to try hot yoga!! Sounds amazing:)
Thanks girl! I'm gonna check out your blog now!!
ahh yay for great weather!! I’m shocked you didn’t go on one of your hilarious banana hunts!!
How did you take those pics of yourself running on the track? were you with some-bodddy?! haha I NEVER could get sick of choclate milk/hot chocolate especially, and broccoli!..or dark chocolate covered ANYTHING for that matter. LOVE it!! And are we perhaps talkin’ peanut butter and chocolate pancakes?!? oohh dear, those are my absolute Favvorrrittte:)
Lol you know me so WELL!! I totally DID go on a nanner hunt, but it was sadly unsuccessful!
And haha no I didn't take them myself! My dad picked me up from the track, and he took photos on the last lap on his phone:)
YAY for all this gorgeous weather!! I actually got a tan this week! So lovin' it!
I'm guessing your pancakes involve chocolate somehow? I guess I'll just have to wait and see!
I love 400's! 800's suck so much compared to them. My favorite runs are either long runs or tempo runs, I'm not a big fan of track workouts. They're okaaay, the best thing about them is that you can go super fast! Obviously I never get bored of running either…
especially considering that the best part of my day was A NEW PR!!!!! Yaaaay!!! I bet if I had road racing flats like your schnazzy ones I could've shaved some time off, but I only have spikes. I'm so excited to get my racing season started off on a good note!
AAAH your PR is so AMAZING!!
And 800's are HARD!! Ooh and totally get some racing flats!! They make you feel like your feet have WINGS
Track 400m repeats are my favorite too! You are totally made for them–holy pace!! YOu (or fire shoes) are fan-freakin-tastic!
I forget about dates–such a great source of fuel. Have a great rest of the weekend Emma!
Hey Emma, the weather really was beautiful yesterday wasn’t it, shame I was stuck in the hairdressers half the day!
Fab running there Emma! For me it is to be really long relaxing run or short and quick, anything in between seems to make me bored! Although I’m ok if I’m going point to point like running home from work, weird!
I would never get fed up of….custard….apricot jam (the good all fruit stuff) and mushrooms I think!
Highlight of yesterday was lunch with my dad as I don’t see him often… I’m now up at 6am to run a 16.3mile race, not sure I’m looking forward to it xx
16.3 miles! Wow!! Wait..is that the Kilomarathon you're talking about? And apricot jam is amazing- I eat spoonfuls straight from the jar!
Oooh. I love brazil nuts and cannot imagine how much more delicious they are with chocolate on them!
I'll never get bored of traveling!
I always run in the same way – I just go flat out and see how fast I can make it round! That’s my favourite type of running
I'll never of chocolate I think. Highlight of today so far = my pancake breakfast.
I said it on twitter and I'll say it here- you are badass! And speedy to boot – very impresssive!
My favourite runs are long and slow – nothing like a (good) 12+miler to chill you out
I’ve never ran on a track (cue scary memories of school PE lessons and being worst in the class) but that sounds awesome! I do love a good long relaxed run but speed intervals on the treadmill really fire me up! I think I could eat nut butter every single day and never get bored! Oh and you must seek out some medjool dates if you haven’t already had them, they are amazing
I LOVE medjool dates!! If only they weren't so expensive…I HAVE to find somewhere cheap to get them!!
Great session today Emma!
I used to prefer long, relaxed runs, but I do like interval training, so I’m going to work on my speed sessions and see if I can learn to love them as much as you, haha!
And chocolate covered brazils? Yes please!
Yayy so glad you enjoyed the track! I love speed workouts because there is so much that you can do with them- different types of workouts, you can do them on the track, treadmill or road etc. I love long runs too but they are all pretty similar…
Wooohooo! Glad you liked your track workout – I def. need to do more of those! Have a great weekend!
I’ll never get bored of riding my horsey (or chocolate!
)
Highlight of my day: riding my horse!! (big surprise)
You look so happy running!! I’m glad you enjoy it!
<3
omg yes the weatehr was GORGEOUS yesterday- and today!! i think i prefer intervals or long runs!! actually intervals– i love sprinting then cooling down and keeping my heart rate throught the ROOOOF
The one thing I'll never get bored of is definitely peanut butter!! I haven't ran on a track in ages!
Oooh chocolate brazils are so good! I prefer long slow runs, partly because I do them at the weekend so I am more relaxed- my runs after work (when I would do intervals or tempo ones) are more rushed so I never enjoy them as much. Plus I am slow, so even for me going fast is not very fast, whereas if I do a long run, it actually is long. Does that make sense?
Love the pic!
Glad you enjoyed the track
Now I'm itching to dig out my old spikes and do some 800s! Track workouts are fun but I do prefer the longer ones…I feel more accomplished. =)
Yikes! I really dislike track workouts, but props to you for loving them! I'm big on long, relaxed runs
I used to love track running. No tracks near me now and my knees are currently in too poor a state to handle anything more than walking. Bad times.
I will never ever ever tire of cereal. My highlight of today was scoring some house of holland tights for £3!
Wow! You’re fast girl! Good going! I’m gonna make some chocolate date bars in your honour
xx
Oh YUM they sound DELISH!! You'd better post the recipe- or else!!
Long runs are my favourite, for sure. It's the mixture of zoning out during and sense of achievement afterwards that I love. And races, of course! I don't know if they're a 'type' of run but they're always something to look forward too.
I would never get bored of the chocolate/running combo either, although I do resent running sometimes when I'm injured and watch others doing it when I can't.
My blogger meet-up was the highlight of my day: is it a rule that all bloggers have to be supremely intelligent, kind and lovely? Because if there is I fear I may be a thorn amonst many roses!
xxx
I feel like I'm always one of the few bloggers who doesn't run lol How sad but I do love weight lifting and pushing myself harder each day at the gym
There's NOTHING wrong with not being a runner AT ALL, okay girl?! It's not like weights and other forms of cardio are easy or anything!! You are NOT sad you are AMAZING:)
I like chilled out runs where you just loose yourself in the running and completely forget about pace – I prefer runs that focus on distance but it doesn't bother me too much how long they take me (ok, that's a total lie – when I kick back into training properly, I'll get utterly obsessed with beating my previous time for a certain route!). Also you're totally not alone in demolishing 500g packs of dates in 3 days… I do it alllll the time :/
I love long tempo runs
And I think it's so funny how you love broccoli so much. Do you steam it usually? Buy it fresh?
And where do you get dates? I can't find them anywhere :/
One thing I'll never bore of: nut butters
I'm obsessed.. Also, running.
You are hardcore!! I find tempo runs TOUGH, but you do get a rockin' runner's high after:)
Actually I just microwave my broc, being lazy!
And you can get dates anywhere! Supermarkets, health foods stores, online, etc. You should GET SOME they are the BEST!
I've never been on a track before. It looks amazing though. I think I would pretend I was in the Olympics or something. At the moment I am loving my longer runs as I'm working to increase my distance and then hopefully my speed!
BAH, I just wrote a huge comment and accidently deleted it!
A few years ago, when I was training everyday, I pretty much lived down my local track! I definitely feel right at home there. I'm hoping to start training/competing with the old athletics club again – just in a totally different event – so I should be doing a lot more work outs down there come summertime! Oh and I've been meaning to say… you should TOTALLY join an athletics club!!! I reckon you would be an amazing 1500m or 3000m runner! Although, to be honest, i'm sure you'd own at anything between 800m and 10,000m
Anyway as I was saying, haha. I'm so glad you enjoyed the track
Nice running, lady! My favorite type of run is definitely long runs – words can't describe the feeling during and after a good long run that just keeps me going for days. love
chocolate brazil nuts are the best!
