How to celebrate Pancake Day

HAPPY PANCAKE DAY!! Just in case you’ve been living in a hole, or you are normal and your whole year doesn’t actually revolve entirely around this day like mine does, then you should know that today is Shrove Tuesday, aka, Pancake Day!! Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think this is more of a British tradition…? It’s one of the best days of the year in my book, hands down!

You should all know that this day is no joke to me. It involves pancakes at every single meal.

Breakfast. Woke up not as early as planned. So had to make pancakes in-between throwing on clothes and trying to find my bag. Hence, kinda odd pancakes…DSC07402

Still tasted divine. I’ve yet to find pancakes that beat Katie’s chocolate ones. Especially when you top them with nut butters and jam…

One with almond butter, one with smooth PB, and one with raspberry jam :)

…and then turn them into a Triple Decker PB+J Pancake Sandwich. Quite a mouthful. Literally.DSC07416

Oooooh yes…! Smile

Lunch. Realised whilst eating my Triple Decker PB+J Pancake Sandwich that my dreams of having pancakes with every meal would never come true if I didn’t make some form of pancakes to take with me for lunch. And I had left myself just a few minutes to do that. Enter…the result of a 2 minute socca pancake:DSC07418

Yeah, bit of a fail. Note to self: you can’t make a perfect pancake in 2 minutes. BUT it was still a pancake, and it tasted like one, so it STILL COUNTED. Topped that with my couscous thang,+noochDSC07419

…and then a broccoli mountain of course!! DSC07316

Clearly I’m into the food layering thing today! Smile with tongue out

Dinner: Well I actually had a ‘normal’ dinner, but for dessert…two CREPE style pancakes!DSC07434

Filled with Morello Cherry jam and peanut butter…DSC07435

This pancake fest wouldn’t have been half as enjoyable without these amazing Meridian products that I received yesterday:DSC07427

I did some official ‘taste-testing’ before the pancake pandemonium ensued. It was a serious business.

You can see my thoughts and check out my GIVEAWAY tomorrow! Open-mouthed smile

HAPPY PANCAKE DAY FRIENDS!!

Did you celebrate Pancake Day today? Did you even know it WAS Pancake Day? I’m already looking forward to Shrove Tuesday/Pancake Day 2012! Winking smile

Are you a pancake lover? What is your favourite pancake flavour or topping? Chocolate pancakes topped with PB+J. Can’t beat it!!

Are you giving up anything for Lent? I don’t know what to do! Last year I DID something instead (read my Bible every day for 10 minutes) and I loved DOING something rather than NOT doing something…but maybe I’ll switch this year! I only have a few hours left to decide now anyway! Smile with tongue out

Have an amazing week lovelies!!

P.S. I love hearing your feedback on the blog! Keep it coming! Do tell me if something’s not working or whatever and I’ll try to sort it out! Smile

  1. Woah, that triple decker is too amazing for words! Way better than a triple hamburger!
And I LOVE the idea of "doing" something. In fact, I've been doing that for the past two years, too. The years before that, I gave up something like chocolate or shopping… but then I realized that doesn't exactly make me a better Christian. In fact, for a lot of the people who give up sweets, it seems like it's more of a New Year's Resolution than a Christian thing.
Anywhoos, happy pancake day/fat Tuesday/Shrove Tuesday/whatever to my favorite blogger!

  2. I love pancakes. I don’t have them very often, but I did have them tonight for dinner. So so good!!!!

  3. Lara@sixtimestheyum

Your breakfast looks amazing. I am definitely going to have to make that asap! I love your "slogan" "Fueled by Chocolate." So true and great!!

  4. OH MY GOD EMMA!!!!! I FORGOT IT WAS PANCAKE DAY!!!! *%$£s$*&

  5. Your pancake sandwich looks crazy. I want it. Banana slices also make a good pancake topping! In addition to nut butter, not in replacement. ;)

  6. Those pancakes look delicious!!

  7. Those pancakes look delicious!!

  8. Every food on here looks amazing-YAY for pancakes!!! My favorite topping is just straight up chocolate chips…9 or 17 per pancake (depending how big it is!) ah, ok that sounds crazy! haha anyway-love your face in that picture-So serious!! ;)

  9. LOVE that crepe! I didn't know it was pancake day, I guess I'll have to celebrate tomorrow. I've done the try something new vs give up something for lent as well, but I haven't thought much about it this year yet.

  10. I looooove pancakes! (I made a waffle today though- I was unaware of this holiday…and I'm catholic whoops) But i looked it up- its mainly celebrated in England akaaaa makes sense for youuuu!

But your pancakes- seriously lookin nomtastic.

    And that last pic…highlarrrious.

  11. PBJ pancake sandwich?!?! YOU ARE A GENIUS!!!!! Happy Pancake Day!!! :)

  12. Allison @ Runs A Latte

Yep, since part of my job involves writing for a food website, I was all up on Shrove Tuesday, but I didn't have time to make them :(

But I'll just count the 3 chocolate chip banana coconut pancakes I ate on vacation last week my fill for today!

  13. I totally didn't know it was pancake day and I have some killer pineapple pancake mix!

I'm curious to here your thoughts about your taste testing!

  14. I love love love that picture of you with the nut butter jars. It's serious business.
I wish I celebrated pancake day! I would have started it out with banana blueberry pancakes. Then for lunch I would have crepes, some savory (stuffed with veggies) and some sweet (stuffed with pumpkin). For dinner, I would have zucchini pancakes!

For lent I'm making an effort to pay more attention to my skin. I tend to slack on washing my face right after working out, and even at night I'm "too tired" to really wash it so I just splash with water. I'm also going to minimize my dairy consumption because I've heard that helps.

  15. I didn't have pancakes today. I meant to…but I ran out of maple syrup and I just couldn't get myself to the store. Sorry to disappoint. Your crepes look fabulous!

  16. Brilliant! I think I might make some at the weekend- didnt fancy them after aerobics last night. At school the head teacher made one (and flipped it) in front of the whole school- brilliant!

  17. Your pancakes look amaaaazing! I had pancakes for breakfast (sweet potato ones yum) and pancakes for dessert (american style with blueberries, also yum!). That photo of you with all the spreads is hilarious haha. That would be my heaven!

  18. Wow you really went for it with pancake day good for you! Your breakfast pancake stack looks particually good :-)

  19. AHAHAHAH that last pic is SERIOUS BUSINESS! i didnt even celebrate pancake day- i feel like such a fail.. iits deffos british i ffink! i never knew about it till i came here and was like.. que?? but britsh pancakes arent pancakes– they are thin and those are not pancakes! seriously you celebrated SO WELL!

  20. way to celeb.-I did not have pancakes<–lame! after seeing all these pics i'm def kicking myself for not!

  21. Next time it's pancake day, can I come over to your house? Pretty, pretty please? With an ice cream cone and…um…. pancakes on top? ;)
Sadly I didn't know it was pancake day :( A food day calender is very much needed in my house :)
And yes, I'm a pancake lover for sure!! My favorite topping is peanut butter (no surprise there)

  22. YUM!!!
    This post is amazing!
I forgot about pancake day though! :(
Going to make up for it today…as in, right after I've written this (:
Chocolate pancakes with peanut butter are calling to me! xxxx

  23. I love your approach to lent: to me it's far more constructive to DO something to better yourself or the world around you than to give something up, and I'll be quite honest: I think anyone (bloggers who are doing so included) that gives up sweets/chocolate is just doing it as an excuse to either display some perverse manifestation of 'willpower' and virtue in self-deprivation, or to lose weight. There's very little true religious motivation involved and the hypocricy annoys me. If you want to lose weight by cutting out sweets, just come out and say it, yes? You're like a breath of fresh air amongst all of these 'I'm giving up chocolate/sweets/desserts/sugar' posts.

    *hugs*

    xxx

  24. I just made Katie's chocolate pancakes, too, but as a waffle!! TOO YUMMY I don't think I'll ever make another pancake/waffle recipe!

  25. I also totally forgot until I was reading blogs last night. But now I want your breakfast!!! I'm looking forward to your taste test too :)
